Two nice goals (one of them exceptional) from Agudelo in the USOC final last night. He's still just 23!

Here's a feature on Tyler Polak:

After a nomadic start to his career and a stop with Minnesota United, Tyler Polak took a risk and signed with USL expansion side FC Cincinnati. Earning regular minutes for the hottest team in the U.S. lower divisions, the leftback is starting to tap into the potential that made him a top prospect during his college career.

      • 2005 CONCACAF Gold Cup champion
      • 2014 FIFA World Cup veteran
BRAD DAVIS: ALL-TIME MLS RANKS (REGULAR SEASON)

Never quite lived up to the hype when he was with FC Dallas (or I guess it was the Burn then if my timing is right).

When with Dallas he was moved to the center of midfield where he struggled to really play as well as we hoped. So we moved him back to the left to compete with the legend Eric Quill.

FCD then traded him away to San Jose on draft day 2005 for Arturo Alvarez, Richard Mulrooney, and a draft pick. That draft pick was used to select..............................Drew Moor.

Fantastic career. If he'd held on a little longer he might have broken the MLS assist record.

Here's Raul Palomares being referred to as "LA GALAXY/Autobahn coach Raul Palomares" earlier this month.

    https://www.facebook.com/Autobahnsoccer/

Raul, for those of you new to the game, was part of the Donovan U17 team and a massively acclaimed youth player who, it happens, also at one time had an extremely interesting YA thread.

And here is some vintage YNT footage:

Only old-timers may remember him, but newly signed FCD homegrown Bryan Reynolds is the son of former USYNTer Keith Reynolds. Youth soccer standout and subsequent 4-year player for Schellas Hyndman at SMU according to FCD press release. Apparently Keith and Bryan used to come to FCD practices years ago when Schellas was boss.

It doesn't really ring a bell for me.

This has actually been driving me nuts -- every time I read about Reynolds, I thought "surely he's some former player's son" but couldn't figure out who it might be. With that said, I can't claim to remember Keith Reynolds all that clearly. Well, so it goes.

It's a good question. I can only find one U20 callup for Palomares during his cycle, the 2003 go-round -- near the beginning of the cycle, under Rongen. (Though I also found one during the previous cycle under Suhnholz.) By 2003 he was playing in Bosnia and dating a Croatian Olympic skiier. By 2005/2006 he appears to have been out of the pro game. I don't recall whether he had serious injury issues or just couldn't cut it...

I always liked former MLB player Curtis Pride, who scored two goals a the 1985 U-16 World cup in 1985. Aso cool as he was born deaf and is currently the baseball coach at Gallaudet.
