When Man U played Barca at the first game at Lincoln Financial Field in, God 2003 or something, Giorgio Chinaglia and Max Bretos were doing the commentary. When van Nistelhorse got the ball about 25 yards out and started taking on defenders Bretos was "Uh oh....UH OH...Ruuuud.....vaaaan.....Niiiiistelrooooooy", ending just as the ball hit the back of the net, as if he knew well in advance what was going to happen. Best commentating from Bretos.

Made me miss Lionel Bienvenu for some reason...

I just wrote an e-mail suggesting they use Max instead of Glenn Davis while JP Dellacamera is gone. Glenn Davis just doesn't have a good announcing voice...at all. Although he is much better than Sean Wheelock LOL

I have no problem with his YEAHHHHH. I've heard such horrendous announcers in this league that just sound like they were assigned an MLS game by their boss and they got pissed off so they decided to purposely mispronounce names, have a completely monotonous tone of voice, reacting casually to beautiful saves/goals, stating the complete obvious, and just saying players names for long stretches as they touch the ball. For example the last Seattle game, the announcer on FSN (west I believe) kept saying "MONTOYA" instead of "MONTANO." Where do they get these idiots????

It's official, after plenty of time (years since I've cared about this thread, but still a good one) we have a winner:

"Nailed It, like I nailed your sister last night"

I love that you guys chose this one over all the other choices... classic.

Max, I expect to hear this one day, when you announce games again... hope you're enjoying Bristol, you're a good dude!

Lionel Bienvenu -- what a name from the past!

Bretos is capable of a good GOOOOOOL call but he only seems to do it for the Argentine Superclassico.

I think it is pretty damn pretentious that people think that the guy who has proven to be one of the best and most enthusiastic American soccer commentators has to change his signature call because it doesn't make them smile before they go to bed at night.

Not having him in the booth over the last couple of years has made it more apparent than ever that he is much better than the alternatives.

Apropos of nothing, Max's goal call always reminds me of this guy:
