Here you go I hope you can habla espanol. If not than use babelfish. http://www.terra.cl/deportes/index.cfm?id_reg=764286&accion=futbolinternacional Slow day or what but Boca is looking for new talent and they think Eddie is just that. Imo take the money and run MLS.
When does the Argentine Transfer Window end? Still, I think EJ is here until at least the summer transfer. I can't see Onalfo giving up on him, unless we get some ridiculous fee ...
Hmm, what kind of an allocation would we get? EJ might be a disappointment but getting nothing for him would suck fairly bad. PS Reading those Babelfish translations can be pretty entertaining. Might as well have translated it to Chinese.
Can some give a little translation of the article? Surely they know he in a bit of a scoring drought like 2 goals last season and none in the past year for the USMNT. Why do teames from Spain and then a quality team like Boca Juniors who has tons of talented forwards find EJ so damn interesting? If MLS turns this opporunity down I can see him getting depressed AGAIN! MLS has done more to kill off his career opportunities then any other player in American history( ok he has done alot of that to himself). $4 or 5 million dollar transfer offer from Benefica Portugual, loan with option to buy offer from Real Sociaded in Spain which would have made him the first American to play in Spain's 1st division, and now this if its true one of the worlds most famous clubs Boca Juniors. MLS has to gain the common sense to let players go as it is better off transfering unhappy players. On the other hand I do question EJ's emotional maturity and a place like Boca Juniors may be too much for him. Not just the language and culture but the pressure those cats would have on him to perform I'm afraid he could crack. But the guy needs to be let pushed and be told sink or swim. What gets him to find the back of the net again I guess. Heres wishing him the best.
my spanish isn't good enough to translate the whole thing but Boca are looking to sign some non-South American players, partly for marketing and branding purposes. Their president wants to make Boca a global brand. EJ is one of the non-South American players they have their eye on. That's basically all it says about EJ. The rest is about other non-South American players that have played for Boca. 2nd. Kasey Keller. Tab Ramos was on Betis' books while they were in the top flight but was recovering from his skull fracture and didn't play any games for them in the first division.
Good find. I guess I'm obligated to comment huh? More than anything I want a striker to perform for KC. Sealy has done well and I want us to have a good partner for him. If Vermes, Onalfo and Henderson believe they can get that from EJ then we should keep him. If EJ's heart isn't in KC and he wants to move, we should take any reasonable offer. We saw how he performed last season when his heart wasn't in the right place and that very well could have been the old regime's fault. Either way, I don't want that to happen to our club again. As always, it's what's best for our club. I'll completely trust the staff's opinion until they give me reason not to.
While EJ has been one frustration after another with KC. I honestly don't see this as a good move for KC unless they have plans to bring in another striker. If they don't have a plan then I say keep EJ. While he's not doing great, I rate him higher then any other forward on our roster, minus Sealy. We think our team is weak now, imagine a starting 11 with Pore or Yura starting up top with Sealy. That just scares me.
2006 Stats Johnson: 2 goals, 1 assist in 1480 minutes Pore: 2 goals in 563 minutes Yura: 0 goals in 221 minutes In no way would I suggest that Pore has the potential that Johnson has. I just wanted to see what the stats were because I didn't know.
Actually I think Pore/Sealy wouldn't be as bad a pair of forwards as you might think. Although it's way too thin, you have a point there. Yura as our third forward is what is scary to me.
I usually don't pay much attention to Eric Wynalda, but his point last night during the USMNT broadcast of Onalfo bringing the best out of EJ was well made. I am taking a "wait and see" on EJ for this season. Onalfo seems to have the reputation of working well with younger players and has worked with EJ in the past. And if EJ needs a larger fire lit under him then Onalfo calls on PV and PV rails on him!
Last year he was unsupportive of his teammates, and we had a better option anyway. This year he's what we have; unless we want to trade him for a mf and go 4-5-1, we seem to have little choice in the matter. His play seems marginally better with the Nats than it was last year; I'd really like to see what Onalfo can bring out of him this season. If he makes little to zero progress, or he acts like an assclown again then I will be solidly in the fire sale camp.
Okay, absolutely not. Yeah Johnson drastically underperformed last year, but we havn't even given him the chance of a compltely new ownership / coaching staff and the completley different attitude / atmosphere of the players that go along with it. Along with the giving away of other players that we've done all offseason, getting rid of Johnson right now would be absolutely stupid. Especially since Wolff is already gone. Do you really think Sealy and Movsisyan / Pore would give us a .500+ season? Cuz I don't.
Here's my biliningual breakdown (I can't believe a Dynamo fan is helping you wizos, sigh, country before club... It says that Boca is trying to expand into markets outside of South America as part of a "Boca Grows" initiative. As part of this initiative, they have been bringing in players from other parts of the world. They brought in a Swiss, a Japanese, a Chinese and a Hungarian player. All of these guys never played a game with the first team. They also talk about the fact that he's currently playing with the national team, but then go back to talking about the US as an untapped market. Analysis: So it looks like this is a clever little marketing scheme dictated by Boca's FO that never was supported by the coaching staff. And I suspect, due to EJ's lack of cleverness and skill on the ball, that he would become the next victim of this scheme if he were to go to BJs. I think he'd be better off staying in KC. Though, I'm not sure if KC would be better off having him.
I prefer he stays and I really don't think the new owners are going to sell him this close to the season starting after turing down offers in the offseason. That just doesn't make any sense.
I just posted about this in my new blog (omg pimping it! Check sig!) but my opinion is to let him go. We should try to sign a striker, obviously, but who knows...maybe we could try Pore upfront for a game or two and see what happens. He might even click with Sealy!
Eddie can't leave. It would kill my dream of getting "Johnson & Johnson" as a sponsor, and then I could buy an Eddie Johnson jersey that says "Johnson" on it three times. Then, Eddie could team up with Larry and Derrick from the Chiefs for some some charity event, and it would be called "Johnson's against Jaundice," featuring Eddie Johnson, Larry Johnson and Derrick Johnson, sponsored by Johnson & Johnson. Or when they have those $1 brat nights, the ads would say "$1 BRATS, sponsored by Johnsonville and Johnson & Johnson. Ahhhhh, that would be awesome. Not to mention the hillarious phallic references.
Johnson's as far as the eye can see. (Not something you like to here when you've just paid a cover to get into a bar. Where was the ladies night?)
Ok from what i take from this article is, They are tyring to expand the brand boca juniors to foreign markets beyond spanish speaking countries, so their solution was buying players from other countries, like Top Japan Goal scorer back in 2000 i believe, takahara who didnt really work well at all with bocas playing style, and they had to sell him. How it goes is from what i see, if EJ is bought by them, he will play mostly in the reserves unless he can really show them that he has the goods to play with the first team. I'd imagine they wouldnt be down for dropping mad cash unless im completely wrong. They want to buy him to sell more jerseys. Man that would be cool though, a US nat player on boca.
Realistically I think EJ stays put. It's too late to trade him before the season. Personally I'm sick and tired of EJ. He has the most apathetic play on the field and I'm not sure that the muscles in his legs are connected with his brain. For the sake of all our frustrations I sure hope all this change affects him positively, although it hasn't looked that way with the Nats.
As a rule I personally only post my blog entry in a thread if someone else already has, so here's my shameless plug http://downthebyline.blogspot.com/2007/03/eddie-johnson-to-boca-jrs.html
