Just been announced on TV here in England that Gianfranco Zola has retired!!!! What a legend and what an ambassador for the great game. Hope he goes into management

Gianfranco Zola is a class act, through and through.

They still talk about him in Parma, not only for his playing, but for simple facts about him as a man. For example he used to come to the stadium on game-day on his bicycle, and would stop and chat with fans along the way. There are thousands of people around here who consider Zola 'un amico.'

    Non ci credo! :(

It seems so sudden. He's nearly 39 but I thought he would play for one more season.

A legend. No doubt about it.

Too bad. He was the only close to Baggio skillwise left. I loved watching him, and now we have no more classic Italian "fantasista's" left...

I don't think it's sad. I think it's tragic. Now there are no more star midfielders/attackers from the early 90s playing.

Sad day indeed. It seems like yesterday he was wearing our colors.

gawd you're all making it sound like he's died. He may not bless us with his silky skills anymore but the little man will I'm sure be in around the sport for many years to come - my only hope is that its at the front end rather than being out of the spotlight
