That's part of what makes this rumor so ridiculous--LAG has only one DP slot and MUST acquire a second one for 2008 to sign Donovan. So the rumor is that Zidane is going to come out of retirement for....14 games?
they MUST only do that if the rules stay the same from this season to next. there's nothing to stop MLS from re-writing the rules to keep LD and DB on the same team while not using a DP slot on LD in 2008.
I didn't edit anything and Alexi Lalas can even confirm the offer was made. Of course most of that money would be sponsor money not from the Galaxy themselves. It would be great for Americans to just get one chance to see Zidance play. It would be the perfect curtain call to his career to play just one season here even if it were next year. He played with Beckham so why couldn't he convince him? It's worth a try and I'm sure Becks is aware of that.
