But then all the Chinese media picked it up. And then the Western media quoted the Chinese media...

Of course the western media picked it up, but if you look on the liverpool FC page on BBC football you won't find it there, that says a lot.

If Zhu Jun did things like changing the colour of Liverpool's jersey to half-red half-blue, writing a new club song for them, and playing himself in the first-team against pre-season opponents, he would at best recieve death threats, at worst, have some nutter try to actually kill him.

Lol.... there really is no word to describe him......

Yea i know about the new colours of Shenhua, absolutely ridicolous.
Shenhua was known as the Blues or something right? And of all colours he mixed with red, it´s like the nemesis to blue, maybe he´s trying to state something psychologically, or maybe he´s just a retard. After all events im leaning towards the latter...

Never liked multi coloured shirts but especially this combination, which reminds me of a certain spanish team i really really really despise..... just not acceptable...

    Rich would be the word.

Is Zlatan's maltreatment at the hands of the blaugrana getting to your Swedish sensibilities?

Haha no, i have no affilation with swedish football whatsoever, don´t like Zlatan so couldn´t care less about his situation.
Although i liked Swedens U-21 team last year in the european championships, watched the epic semifinal live where they unfortunately went out on penalties against England.

My detestment for the spanish team in question is because i used to be an avid Real supporter since a couple years back, but my love for european football has faded recently, now its all about NT and CSL, and the rest of East Asia of course.

Also China Mobile have become the shirt sponsor of Shenhua. I "hear" China Mobile is "interested" in the Liverpool "deal."

lol doubtful. Every chinese player is on a short leash now. Basically they only have one chance, and any screwup/unimpressiveness in training will prob result in permanent benchwarming and/or subsequent dismissal. If your Brazilian on the other hand, you've got more lives than a cat..... *ahem Anderson.

Didn't some Chinese kid winner of a footy skills show get signed by Everton only to be released just a few months later?

Especially in soccer, where a lot depends on teamwork. It is vital that the manager loves you. Sir Alex forced Fletcher to develop, like a man-made diamond. You need to be very lucky too. Peter Crouch and Jonathan Stead are basically the same type of player. It's just that Harry Redknapp found Crouch and took him everywhere. Crouch was also lucky that Southampton got relegated. They were forced to sell him and he moved to a big club, Liverpool, where his "ability" automatically increased in people's minds. Also, Crouch was given his international opportunity because Rooney was injured and England didn't believe in Defoe, Bent, etc.

I don't trust those reality shows. Plus that kid was never going to get a work permit for the senior team.

Very good point about the work permit xfactor. Forgot about that. The difficulty for a Chinese player to a WP in England is also a huge turnoff now for teams scouting for talent overseas. :(

If we read the Home Office rules word for word, then I've no idea how ZZ was able to get his without a bunch of references and appeals.

I think at the time when ZZ went to Charleton, China was in a better position; Dong eventually got his WP too. But we went on a steady plummet in rankings shortly after. I think ZZ can still get back into the PL since he is already playing on a SPL team, but any other Chinese player who wants to come over would have to play the waiting game.

I don't know if your work permit remains valid after you become unemployed (after Charlton). I think Celtic had to reapply. But who knows?

Yeah, it looks like this is really happening. Huang is buddy buddy with the CCP in ways Carson Yeung could only dream about, wonder if it will make a difference for the Prem's character review. Liverpool is one of the most popular clubs among Chinese fans, will be very interesting if more Chinese become Liverpool fans, I don't think it will make a big difference, but if they can win the league this year, it might be a different story.

I can see how this wouldn't hurt Chinese football, but I still can't see the deal actually going through. I'm pretty sure Hicks and Gillete won't let go of scouserpool unless they milk at least 600mill, and Kenneth Huang is no fool; there is no way he would meet that evaluation. Since they are dealing with a Chinese businessman, there is no way that Hicks and Gillete can expect Huang to throw stupid amounts of money for a shaky team like the Arabs. I think they are just making this "serious bid" from Huang public to try to cash in on a bigger offer from the Syrian guys who were supposedly really interested a few months ago.

Screw liverpool, let them rot for all i care, take some kids to B'mingham, they stand a much better chance of developing Chinese NT players than scouse fans who are so bigheaded about their team that no Chinese player or any manager would dare take the risk of playing non-established players.

first time i heard of the guy was when he bought a stake in the the Cleveland Cavaliers.

i might have been more impressed with him a few months ago but now that the cavs are back to being a scrub team again after lebron bailed on them, his business acumen and perceived insider knowledge took a hit.

i don't see how the cavs are going to be marketable to china and being in a small market city in the US, don't know whether they are going to be profitable now that the team sucks too.

going to be interesting how its gonna play out with liverpool. they certainly have a bigger loyal fanbase in mainland china plus hk.
