Get on board or get left behind ! Faster than the Zardes Express ,with more finesse and less mess. This guy will be MLS XI best and I must confess he is a few moves ahead like a grandmaster of Chess MVP !
I mentioned this in the play-by-play thread, and I think it bears repeating. In terms of straight quality, I think that free kick goal that he scored last night was the best free kick goal in the history of the club.
He wins it. Carlos Vela fans flip out and call it a bogus win when Vela doesn't win it, due to sitting out of the MiB tournament. Life is good.
I saw that Zelarayan was given an assist on goal #4 last night. So a goal and 2 assists for the game.
Someone asked why Zelarayan got a secondary assist on the last goal but Nagbe didn't on the second goal. I did some research and the only thing I could find is from back in 2012. Only those second-to-last passes which are considered to directly lead to a goal are awarded secondary assists. In other words, it depends on who the scorekeeper or official recorder for the match is, how drunk he is, if he's balls are itching and he gets distracted when a secondary pass to a goal is made, or someone is bringing food from the buffet while the play is going on. Or they just have no f-ing clue and pull it out of their asses.
RBNY tried to make it hard on him. I don't think he was quite as active this time around overall. He did impact the game, obviously. That is great news. They focused on limiting him. But he found a way. He really worked hard, too. Glad that he was able to come out early again. I'm riding the Lucas 'loop for sure!
What impresses me most about him is the way he uses space. It's exactly the way God played. Lurk around somewhere 25-35 feet out, start to push goalward, make the defense react to him,.wait until the attack compresses the defense back a bit, then move backwards into that sudden void, receive the ball with nobody near him and either shoot or find a hitter. (Guille was actually more willing to go wide if he had to in order to find space and get the ball. Z is more determined to operate from the center of the park as they say, but the idea is the same.) But the thing is he's not necessarily waiting for that space- he's creating it, forcing the defense to give it to him. He knows, they know, you and I even know, exactly where the Crew wants the ball to go. But rather than let that constrict his play he uses it to his advantage. He is fun as hell to watch. For that matter, so is Nagbe. I spent several stretches last night only watching him. He's like an ice skater, so smooth, no wasted motion, always looking two passes ahead, reacting not to what's going on but what's going to happen after that. Damned Covid. How freakin fun would it be to sit in the sun and watch these guys?
i was pretty drunk..... we won 4-0.... so it was a good night for me, if that's what you are asking. If you are asking if there was a male partner, the answer is no, there is no mr big j.
