Exactly what big NT games has he played in his career, when he hasn't even had a call up yet...

U-21's don't count...just go ask the "Golden Generation"

even at the u-21 level, a player is still dealing with pressure and expectation when helping bring a team through the qualifiers for a major tournament, keeping an unbeaten record along the way.

He works really hard. Has some athletism also, I would be surprised if one day we end up seeing him wearing the Seleccao's jersey.

Ze Castro is the real deal. That is for sure. I thought he was amazing for Academica vs Benfica.

Zé Castro is already under contract with FC Porto since last summer ... that is the ONLY reason why he didnt want to sign a new deal with Academica or even leave now to another club in January.

The contract is locked in a safe until Pinto da Costa decides to show it ... it may take a couple of months but u will see it.

As a player he is potentially interesting and thats it ... dont compare this guy with Ricardo Carvalho.

I agree, I just don't see it, yet. Not to say that it won't happen, though.

We will now always compare futur Portuguese defenders to Jorge Andrade and Ricardo Carvalho. They are the standard now...

Our defense is stockpiled like missiles.

But if we have a problem it's like roy said the Lb and the Rb is where we lack players.

Ze castro is dirty right joelzinho.

Ze Castro his not dirty, his play his very smooth, I guest you didn't watch the 12 - U21 games, the got us undefeated and in the final 8 of European cup.
by the way he was the captain in the second half of the Benfica vs Academica.

his birthday was last Friday 13, his now 22, but still in the age bracket to play in the U21 european cup
he made it by 15 days.

I saw this guy play live twice. For Portugal vs Switzerland at Bessa he played outstanding.

Later that week he played at Dragao with Academica and looked awful.

Hope this guys as good as everyone says. Espically since i keep hearing his most likely destination is Porto!

Sporting would be a good fit but I think he will go to liverpool.

Tiago gomes is a good upcoming lb and even andre marques.

Ze castro is plauing well and reminds me of a young carvalho.

We could put game news for Académica in the Académica thread. No sense in keeping this thread around as he didn't move anywhere in the January transfer window. Thread closed...
