Review: Zardes goal wasn't a poach.

If I remember he had one cap and one goal; and this was while playing in the first division.

 

Even on the replay it looked to me like it was going to hit the post, and live in the moment Zardes absolutely has to knock it in. Even if it was definitely headed towards the net, it can always take a funny bounce or a defender could have slid in and pulled it out. If Zardes had backed off and something crazy hadn't happened to keep it out, the same people screeching about it being a poach would be screeching about that.

I mean, does anyone honestly think Dempsey is upset about it?

it reminded me of Dempsey poaching Bradley against Guatemala in 2012

Totally -- that was what I thought back to once I started reading this thread. MB clearly mouths "I don't give a f***" after Dempsey acknowledges poaching it.

Zardes does deserve commendation for staying onside. It looks easy, but when fatigued (mentally & physically) it's easy to start "cheating" in your movement.

I have been pleasantly surprised and impressed by his contributions thus far. If he could become a Hejduk-like early flash/late bloom kind of USMNT player, that would be entirely worthwhile.

I mean, when you think about it, Dempsey somehow sneaks that ball not only by a double team of defenders but just by the fingertips of the keeper and is headed for a cliffhanger slo roll towards the far post when.........there he is Mr. Can't you see I've got n0 touch, with erm.......an ever so light touch into the goal.

Presumably, if the OP has to prove to his brothers that Zardes didn't poach the goal, then they think he poached the goal...
