Zambrano is thinking of suspending Mathis for the remainign of the season. It is crazy in Metro World http://www.nj.com/sports/ledger/index.ssf?/base/sports-0/103225383345605.xml
OZ is an idiot, he is only looking for a scapegoat. Mathis' red card get his attention, but not his poor play, lazy work habits or playin him out of position. He can't be fired fast enough.
nick should suspend oz before he gets a chance to suspend mathis... oz is a friggin joke....i don't think i've ever heard a coach suspending a player for the a period of time....normally, he'll leave the player on the bench and not play him (which oz has done to our best players anyway without a reason)... oz is trying to deflect the attention from him for being a crappy coach to mathis....that way, maybe he and arena will have something to talk about should they ever meet.... gimme a break....
right. because mathis would be a perfect angel if graced with his out and out striker position. it's obvious he's tanking it, and he'd tank it if he's playing striker or goalie.
And we're takin' it to the press... It's like a dirty bomb of utter stupidity and selfishness has exploded all over this team.
Octavio is just cooking up this "suspension" thing so he'll have an excuse when he forgets to put Mathis on the lineup card again. What a dysfunctional organization.
Too true. I want OZ out as much as anyone, but to be fair, Mathis has really, really let him down lately. You could be the ghost of Bill Shankly reincarnated in Gus Hiddink's body, and if your top player is pulling this kind of crap, your job is gonna be that much harder.
Just another day being a Metrostars fan. No big deal. Remember. Oz drafted Mathis so he was aware of his ability even before he became famous. As long as Oz is the coach, he should use his power 100%. Since Mathis cannot control his temper, I think Oz is being rational here.
I wish Mathis was as well thought out and rational on the field as he is giving interviews. The response he gave was great but worthless if he doesn't focus. I spent half the game last Thursday yelling to get Chrono off the field and the other half screaming for Mathis to shut up and play.
If this were Diallo instead of Mathis OZ were talking about, al the board users would be applauding it. Mathis has been Dogging it all year & frankly, we're playing better without him. Good luck in the Latvian Second Division, Clint.
Yeah, that's exactly how I would handle it, too! If I was dissatisfied with a player's behavior, I would give an interview, whereby I'd tell the press things that I've been contemplating. Funny, how OZ left out these thoughts; I'm a shmugeggie of a coach because, 1) Playing down a man against DC, I take out a guy who I've left in all season because he always hustles. 2) Faria is out and I put in Chronopolous! 3) I'll take Faria out and leave Diallo in. I shouldn't have forgotten that Big Mama has an ankle injury. 4) Well, maybe I should have taken out Diallo instead. If I take out Diallo 10 minutes later, maybe noone will notice. 5) The defense should be proud to know that I feel that they can be relied upon to play for a tie for the last 40 minutes of the match, while playing a man down most of the game, and while DC will be attacking as a tie does them no good. 6) I did all these moves just to light a little fire under Tim Howard, hopefully he'll stay aggressive till the end. Either suspend the guy or shut the he!! up.
Thats Crazy Talk!! Suspend Klinger and make an example out of him instead. Or Balboa. Not someone who can actually add to the team.
Some more words on Clint and OZ a feudin.... http://www.socceramerica.com/article.asp?Art_ID=562132233
Mathis will be gone if the Metrostars would go far in the playoffs. If the Metrostars don't win will be a coaching change, Mathis and is stupidity will be back in Metrostars uniform.
oz is an ass.... how can he tell the public that mathis needs professional help, a pychiatrist? wouldn't it be better to tell the player in private.... mathis has a temper, yes. he should've prob received a red in thursday's game for harassing the refs all game....completely yelling at them....but he didn't... the red he received on saturday could've easily been a yellow or no card at all.... answer me this, how the f is oz going to cause unity and team spirit by not siding with his player and stating that it was a definite red.....and then telling the press that mathis needs professional help....i can guarantee this, the players are with mathis......and like us, think oz is a friggin ahole for his actions....
OZ has. From the Ledger And this Mathis and Arena didn't get along. Arena gets along great with all the other players. Mathis and OZ don't get along. What would you conclude the problem is? Look, Mathis absolutely was lucky he didn't get a 2nd yellow on Thursday. That, plus the quotes above, tell me that 1, Mathis and OZ have been down the road before, and 2, that OZ had a private meeting on this SPECIFIC point...and Mathis still f'ed up on Saturday. Like Arena, OZ has tried to handle things privately, and that didn't work, so he's going public. Like with Arena, Mathis is acknowledging there are problems. Like with Arena, he talks the talk but he doesn't walk the walk. Mathis is pi**ing his career away.
metros need a coach who doesn't take crap for next season. the coach then needs to tell clint clean up your act or leave. oz (for the 100th time) isn't cutting it. its like the army capt/sergeant who is incompatent. it trickles down through the whole company, and then everything looks and smells like poo.
OZ could say he's "suspending" anyone he wants, and he'd still be in the wrong because he has not taken any responsbility for his own glaring errors and incompetence, both in the last match and throughout the season. You're right, sentiment lies with Mathis as it does no other Metro, and he's been cut a lot of slack this year. But in this case it's irrelevant. We still could have gotten a result at DC if OZ had not completely failed in his OWN duties.
I'm not going to re-read the article, so I might be wrong...but I'm 99% sure that it was CLINT who told the press this.
Yes, but judging by the article, this has been attempted hundreds of times to no avail. With the season coming down to one game, there's no time to worry about people's feelings. Wasn't anybody else pissed off when Clint got the red card? The most important game of the season is vs NE. And guess what? Clint won't be there. Arena has issues with Mathis also, so it's not just OZ. I'm getting a little fed up of close-ups of Clint barking at the refs or his teammates. With his sub-par performance so far this season, I'm not gonna shed a tear if he sits the bench in the playoffs (if we make it that is).
ya know....reading this crap makes OZ seem like a White substitute teacher in a Harlem HS.... OZ is like a game of hockey....no ballz
I was thinking the same thing. But I always thought The White Shadow was a good tv show if that's relevant.
