2-1 to DC. A lot of people are blaming Mathis. Blame Zambrano. Octavio Zambrano is the loser. We could have won this game, but he takes off our two forwards, and our most creative player. And the other team needs to win, so they pile all their players up, which is predictable. You have to have some possesion, or else there is almost no way you will hold on to tie the match, a match the metros also needed to win. Octavio Zambrano is a retard. It was so inevitable. he should have thought about that. Having a defender, Chronoperlus, play forward is sad. And Andy Williams, though offensive, is not a forward. He is a creative player. You can't have a player like Willliams or Chronopolus as your lone striker. That is just dumb. Mathis should not have been red carded. The Peruvian gay guy fell beneath him, without Mathis konwing. Mathis takes a step, which unfortunately ends up landing on the gay guy who's a peruvian who's name I do not konw. Dumb decision by Stott, who is also to blame. But the red card to Howard was out of this world! He came out, and just missed the ball. He never even had a yellow card. It should have been a yellow. And what about the yellow to Diallo, for a dive, which should have been a penalty shot for the Metros. But the real person to blame is Octavio Zambrano. Why go for a draw, when you konw you need three more points, are against the last place team in the league, with two games left in the season. A draw wouldn't even have been good. We would still have needed to win in NE. So, in that curcumstance, we should have pushed for the win, because or else it would't have made a difference. If we had pushed for the win, we probably would have tied. And if we did lose, it would not have been as demorilizing. Zambrano is stupid. Get a new coach. I don't care if it's Ramos for player-coach. I don't even care if it's Davis for player coach! JUST REPLACE ZAMBRANO! GO METROS!

Oz is blaming Clint for the sending off and for "not understanding the level of importance of the game" saying that his behavior has "gone on too long".

Gee, convenient scapegoat, that. OZ is right and he's wrong about Clint, but it's not like OZ is mr. squeaky clean either. If there is one person who has contributed less than Mathis this year, it's OZ. (not counting ramos or balboa, who haven't been around enough to influence anything).

I agree 100%. I blame this loss on him. OZ is the worst coach I have ever seen. His job is to make the subs and chose the starting line-up. so far he hasn't been able to do that right. There are alot of things wrong with this team but some should have been fixed. We don't play as a team. We give balls away constantly because we don't know each other. Why, because there has never been a starting line-up. we play this one then that one and like 20 different starting line-ups. We should be playing our best players out there and the ones that get along with eachother. Jolly said a while ago that the metros would win the whole thing because no one has complained or pointed fingers, what now. It was reported that in the locker room after the last game that there was some fighting. and mathis and diallo continue to get into eachothers faces. Faria is the best player we have right now and the only one that has emerged as the leader of this team. OZ needs to play him as long as he is standing. OZ needs to learn who is playing well and together. I have seen who should be playing and starting, why can't he see it. It just so happens that when ever we have the three forwards in at the same time we loose. it so happens that when davis is on the bench and then comes in we get a goal or play better. Williams just happens to be the best mid fielder on the team. Its like he wants to loose. playing davis mathis tab and pauli in mid field and leaving williams on the bench for most of the game. taking out our best forward, right now, when we need him the most and diallo can't run. This should be the starting line-up for next game. faria and diallo, no brainer because we don't have another choice. davis, williams, tab and pauli in mid field. why not play our best mid fielders. petke, akwari, jolly, and I don't zadie or moore who ever.

If OZ said that, that has to be the last nail in his own coffin. I think the Metros need more of a disciplinarian as a coach.

Funny has Oz always finds someone else to blame. Conveniently left Clint off the play card...his behavior has gone on to long...this and that. The only thing the Metrostars let go on too long was let Oz coach!!! Look at how he turns on everyone to make himself look good....remember Daniel Hernandez...he stuck up for him and bam gone..OZ must go. I did hear that comment he made about Clint and his behavior, and I do see that Clints attitude has changed. Again I chalk that up to being frustrated. All of the players seem to be. OZ IS A SCHMUCK!

I don't see anyone asking one question....If OZ is or was such a great coach, Why was he fired from the LA job after a season and a few games into the next? His problem is that alienates himself from his players after a certain time and they then start to lose respect in him and then all hell brakes loose. Just a thought to contemplate this offseason. I can't wait for the winter meeting with Nick and hopefully Oz. Most likely won't show up anyway.

Every time we think OZ will do something right, he does, but does 3 other things wrong. For instance, we shout START DAVIS AND AKWARI. He does, but then he benches Williams and sticks Mathis back in the midfield, which has NEVER worked this season. Nobody could be that stupid, he HAS to be doing it on purpose.

Now, on to the good and the bad for the first Metro game this season I was able to be at in person.

    Good:

Faria continues to improve his play. Even when he was slid into the midfield, Rodrigo played very well.

In his limited minutes, Lisi played very well.

Paule, Petke and Ziadie all played well.

The small group of Metro fans outsang the DC fans, completely embarrassed the three fat tools from DC that came over to the Metro section and put their shirts on inside out (what was that chant about man-breasts?), and got to laugh as one of them was ejected by security for trying to start something later on in the game.

    The Bad:

    OZOZOZOZOZOZOZOZOZOZOZOZOZOZOZOZOZOZ

Jolley didn't have his best game of the season.

Ramos was nearly invisible, and he seemed to have alot of trouble controlling the wet ball

    Stott

Where the hell were the 60+ Metro fans that were supposed to be there? There was only a small section with 25 tops, and when I went over at halftime, none of the guys I talked to had even heard of the ESC or Bigsoccer.

    Plus the Metro subway sucked.

Not starting Williams...I don't like to pile on OZ, but if MLS was big-time in NYC, the tabs would be killing him-he'd be run out of town by now. I'm sure he has is reason but...didn't he learn anything from the Mathis-Serna-Faria set-up? And as bad as the defence has been, with the chance of rain, how could he take such a gamble on the road against a team scrapping to stay alive? The only thing I can think of is that playing Thursday, Williams was gassed-but still, ya gotta suck it up, no?

As a one time supporter of Zambrano, I have to agree with the call to replace him! That team has shown over the last few months that the are totally undisciplined, and an utterly selfish bunch!
Time to bring in a taskmaster; someone who can teach the how to play as a unit.... as a team...something that they are not now!

I agree OZ must be repalced wether the Metros make the playoffs or not. OZ decision to play for a draw and substitute Faria & Diallo is easily the worst tactical decision any Metros coach has ever made. I just wonder what is going through OZ's mind when he makes such moves. Thomas Rongen,Clive Charles,Wolfgang Sunholz hell anyone even Eric.D please coach the Metros next season!

I wonder what coach would be brought in next year. I think it would have to be a foreign coach.

It takes more than being a tough taskmaster to bring a team together. Yes, the Metros need discipline. But they also need to know they are valued by the coach for their contributions. Ever hear of positive motivation? There needs to be a balance. I've heard OZ blaming this player or that much too much. I'd like to just once hear him talking about what great guys he has to work with -- something positive! These men are human, and obviously have lost all respect for their coach -- the one who just stands and stares, or yells at them in the locker room, or tells the press how terrible THEY are. All this while they watch him make stupid strategic and tactical decisions. I wouldn't respect him either. Nor would I be inclined to give him my best effort. When you get slapped down often enough, you start believing you can't succeed.

I was thinking the same thing about finding a scapegoat, but thought I was just overreacting. Seems to me if he wanted to have "words" with Clint or any other player for that matter, shouldn't he have started back when they began their horrible play?

I'm still pulling for them to make the playoffs!!!!

OZ wants a scapegoat, we all want a scapegoat. But there's no scapegoat here. There's plenty of blame to go around.

Oz's coaching tactics are suspect to say the least.
Mathis has not had a good season and his red card last game was just moronic. It's like he's trying to prove his critics right.
The defense took a vacation for the whole middle of the season destroying all the good work the team had done in the beginning.

Almost everyone on the team deserves some of the blame. If Mathis had played with a little intelligence, we would have won despite OZ. If the team had played with intensity from the start, we would have own despite OZ. It would be nice to say "All our problems start with Octavio Zambrano. Replace him and we will be great." But I just don't think that's true.

By the way, I agree we should replace Zambrano. But I'm not hopeful that we're going to transform into a good team.
