The Coventry site said " the Lions have taken Zak Whitbread on loan from Liverpool, Williams future at the New Den looks highly unlikely"

    Lions - Millwall.

Ya gotta think with Millwall sitting at the bottom of the table, he is going to get thrown into the Lions den very quickly.

Well, cue the hallelujah chorus! We've been clamoring on this forum for a loan for Zak for a year and a half. Better late than never.

I believe Zak will be the first Yank to call the Den home since the halcyon days of Kasey Keller, Bruce Murray and John Kerr, Jr.

Nice, the kid will finally get some consistent first team ball and thats always a good thing even if its for a last place team.

Every chance to be the hero, and Millwall has had a couple good results lately (2-2 tie against United, and a win against Norwich). So maybe psychologically, they are recovering as well. The bottom of table pretty thick, so they don't need much to get up and off.

Good to see our guy didn't have to drop down a level..makes sense that he didn't (have to)...

    Go get 'em Tiger..

    Re: Zak Whit To Coventry

Can someone give us a rundown on the Millwall defense and his prospects for consistent 1st team minutes. Clearly the goal of a loan is to bring in someone who can help immediately, but as we have seen in other YA loans, it doesn't always translate into consistent starts.

Millwall is bottom of the table with a 2-4-6 record over the past 12 matches. Nowhere to go but up!

The quote of YA from the Millwall spokesman makes it sound like Zak may even start against Leeds on Saturday. That gets a 'wow' if true. The young man is getting his chance...

But will he make the station?

(Little joke for people who've been on the Web for a decade and change.)

Good move for Zak. Saturday will be an exciting time as he's essentially going to making his first league start of his career (his other apperances were Cup matches?). Liverpool faithful seem to be pretty high on his potential, so this loan could be a showcase of all parties involved. Good luck to Zak. One down, one to go (Cooper's turn to find a loan).

Good deal for him. And a team with a good history with Americans.

Well, they're known to play without a goalkeeper.

Especially this year ... that Bobby Convey highlight reel.

    Good luck to him!

With any luck he will keep his shorts...didnt Kasey get stripped to his undies by Millwall supporters after a big game in his first season?

From everything I have heard they have the craziest fans in the game...of course some people would call them thugs or hooligans but I am not quick to judge:)

Liverpool fans are pissed about this. For those that don't remember, last year in I believe the Carling Cup, Zak might have even made his debut in this match, Millwall fans made racist chants about Liverpool players and chants about the Hillsborough disaster.
