For the last time, Spiteri was released already, and was only signed to cover for Henry Ring, who was injured at the end of the season.

Hate to say I told you so...Mr. Warren, Mr. Countess, please pick up the white courtesy phones.

The MLS front office needs to do a better job on handling transfers so they can get some money out these deals. Zach, like most MLS goal keepers, is a marketable player. There is no reason for the league not to have sold him if he wanted to go or there is an offer on the table.

Bye Zach, you did a great job for Chicago.

Wow, Good for Zach!! Great club!! I really thought Adin Brown would be the next to go, but it sounds like the keeper coach there knows Zach very well. Good situation for him there as well, competing against a 21-year old for playing time.

    I welcome the change.

The defense was too reliant on Zach anyway. It was obvious that they were practically incapable of playing with another keeper. Not sure whose fault that was, but it'd be good to change that.

Can we sign that Waterreus guy from Holland now? I thought I remember him saying he'd like to come to America.

I'd like to get Countess actually. I think he'd fit in well with our team.

And, I just realized... I already have a Benfica scarf. Cool.

Well, this certainly came out of the blue. Good luck to Zach!

I doubt DC would part with Warren, but it's possible. Rimando is also a possibilty.

Not sure since the Transfer Window for America ends in less then 2 hours. Not sure on the rules of the transfer window and what not but I think the Fire will have to look around MLS or in the A-league.

I'm definately happy for Zach, but I think this kind of su!ks. No one else has seemed as disappointed as I am? How come, he's done an excellent job for us?

I would love to see confirmation of this from someone outside the Trecker family.

I met Zach once when he was with the Metros. They were playing an exhibition game in PA, and I was one of the ball boys (they chose a bunch of the local high school players). A friend of mine idolized Thornton and asked me to get his autograph. When I asked him for one and told him about my friend, Zach gave a chuckle and joked with another player about how he's gotta be a role model now. Thornton seemed like a genuinely nice guy who never saw himself as a star. That makes it all the better that he became one. Sucks for the Fire, but I can't help feeling good for Thornton.

It's confirmed. Can't give you a source but trust me it's confirmed. (or don't trust me, but either way, it's confirmed)

Again, I think Countess is a no-brainer, since he's a #1 keeper that's been relegated to #2 status in Dallas with the arrival of Scott Garlick. Doug Warren, on the other hand, is a #2 keeper that happened to wind up as #1 because Rimando got injured, and Matt Reis is a perennial backup these days.

Of course, that's not to say we could go after somebody's starting keeper, but obviously, we'd have to give up more.

And didn't Countess applaud the Chicago fans when Dallas came to Naperville this year?

I guess I'm not upset because I saw it coming, and like Bocanegra, it's a great opportunity for Zach. So I'm happy for him.

I trust you. I just, for whatever reason, don't trust the Treckers.

I think Zack's career is badly stagnating in MLS. He hasn't improved at all for couple years now. He needs to move on.

Yes he did, he was getting heckled pretty good at the south end (I was sitting over there for the 2nd half) and he handled it very well. I left that game with alot of respect for the way he handled himself.

Good luck Big Zach, and thank you, you'll definitely be missed...

And hard to replace on such (relatively) short notice...

But look at it this way, now you have a whole new league of clowns to pancake....
