Why would he come back though? Isn't he making some pretty good cash in Russia? Or is there something else?
I've been too focused on ISIS and Paris and measles and Ferguson. Care to update me on what's going on in Russia?
Russia's Currency Is Plummeting and Putin's Billionaires Are Cannibalizing Each Other http://www.newrepublic.com/article/120201/russias-ruble-value-collapsing-due-sanctions-stagnation Plus, he left his family in the US while he's in Russia.
In January, you would have to shell out 32.86 rubles to buy one U.S. dollar. Through October, that number edged higher and higher into the thirties, prompting nervous jokes from Russians as they watched their national currency lose value before their eyes. By November 1, a Russian would need to scrape together over 43 rubles to buy one U.S. dollar ... 43 my backside. The ruble closed last night at ~ 69/$1 and the Russian economy is running out of hard currency. Some idiot in charge of the Russian Football federation even had cojones'kis to declare that all foreign players will be pegged to about 45/$1. The sign that not only foreign player contracts are pegged to foreign currency, a Russian international responded that the players would then sue. Of course, the Russian courts are rigged but UEFA and even FIFA don't like it when the players get stiffed and the players might be allowed to walk away from their contracts. PS. Fabio Capello hasn't gotten paid since the WC. Even Platini flew to Moscow in order to mediate the hold up.
Armenia lost 2-1 after going down to 10 men. BTW, Yura has only 1 goal in 9 games (7 starts) for Spartak this season.
They got Alboned today, pretty much out of the race. http://footyroom.com/albania-2-1-armenia-2015-03/ Berezovsky has agility of a bar stool ... and I am not just talking about Boris.
Yura is playing for Armenia against Serbia in Euro qualifying and the Brit announcer said that Yura had US & Armenian passports. He's probably relying on Wikipedia for that tidbit, but he's also probably wrong. He probably hasn't been back in the US enough to get the time accrued that he needs (though it is possible he spent all his rehab time in the US). But I haven't seen anything beyond speculation to say he's a citizen yet.
Lets hope he can help Armenia reach the Euros. And he can thank all the training he received in the US as a kid
A cursory look at his stats shows that he started 7 out of 7 games, but was subbed out in all of them (65 minutes per game) and has 3 goals. http://us.soccerway.com/players/yura-movsisyan/7321/ Interestingly this is already his 4th season with Spartak. He has played 58 league games and has 25 goals.
League sources confirm terms have been agreed upon for Yura Movsisyan's return to RSL: https://t.co/QAmwgoe80p pic.twitter.com/0pXTIn1Ikz— Chris Kamrani (@chriskamrani) January 10, 2016
He might already be one but he still can't play for the US. BTW, I posted this on the MLS N&A forum -- Leonid Fedun, Spartak's owner, is in the oil business (major stockholder in Lukoil) and the oil business ain't doing too hot lately. And Russia is freezing in more than one regard. Just looked up SovSport (they're quoting SL Trib on Yura's transaction) and there's an article that an ex-Spurs striker Roman Pavlyuchenko, now playing for Kuban', hasn't been paid in five months. All that oil money that slipped through Vlad's fingers. http://www.sovsport.ru/gazeta/article-item/873489
Well, it depends in whether he wants to have his legs or other body parts damaged in an off-the-field accident.
