I’m sure Gattuso sees the same freakish talent that Berhalter does. The guy is a bulldozer who moves like a Porsche.
It's crazy he's still only 19. I think in 2026 he and Reyna (fingers crossed he's healthy) will be by far our most talented players. Just looked them both up and Yunus is only 16 days older then Gio. WOW!
The role he has played with the USMNT will help his club career development. People don’t talk about Musah enough, but he has a more integral role in the team and has played a more prominent role than Reyna since committing. Musah is a budding top level player.
Very cool to see Musah up front and center on the advert. This could be such a career defining year for him.

Not a great or terrible first half. Did the stuff he does well and screwed up in the ways he often does. Not involved in the goal. Mostly not involved in anything at all.
partially watching the first half and Musah doing a great job of progressing the ball in mf, by pass or dribble, a la his play with national team. No killer final ball or shot but with the exception of a truly dire attempt at a cutback cross about minute 37, he's been good at putting D under pressure and maintaining possession for Valencia. Playing D like it is a pre-season friendly. Valencia up 1-0 on a deflected shot but BVB have had many good chances and are shooting straight at the keeper.
The one play you didn’t mention was when he ball watched as BvB had several attempts on goal in one sequence. It’s preseason but it’s also a weakness of his and something his manager will be unlikely to tolerate.
That's why I wrote "Playing D like it is a pre-season friendly." jogged back behind a runner, caught up and positioned himself on the wrong side during follow up play.
Classic Musah performance. Done everything well, except the final pass or action. Once he gets that sorted, what a player he will be.
so, there you have it; 61st minute, Musah does a great job winning the hopeful ball into space, crosses for the centrally running forward but apparently doesn't see Passlack at right back who easily wins the ball and clears...sigh (I think 'cringe-worthy' is a bit harsh). Then off the restart, Musah with a lovely defense splitting diagonal pass releasing the right winger, whose long ball across the top of the box is taken on the left and buried into the far upper 90.
Made me cringe because I knew what what coming. He over thinks things in the final third and often appears tentative. When does their season start? I would have thought he would have been subbed off by now at this point of the preseason.
Musah, DLT, McKennie, Adams, Reyna, Aaronson all battling for 3 spots. I expect big years from all of them, they have a top-level mentality.
