That was a great goal He generally played well throughout - so physically strong and technically adept for the life of me I can’t figure out if Valencia has a system other than long balls and counter attacks Madrid just came on very strong in the second half and the last two goals happened after Yunus was subbed off. just sayin
Interesting how Valencia uses him. He has now shown his value to the point where he is trusted to get big chunks of minutes in important league games. At same time, Valencia seems to not seek him out to get on the ball much. He seems to be out there to fill his position and when an opportunity presents itself, jump on it and try and make something happen which he absolutely did on this match. In 85’, he had 23 touches and 14 passes but of course the super important really well taken shot and goal. He was interviewed by Sid Lowe post game and came across as very natural, super sincere and mature. He says he is still learning the game, prefers central to outside but wants to play wherever the manager feels he is needed for the team. Kind of player anybody would want on their team.
He's such a great kid. I'm even more surprised, with that head on his shoulders, he picked the USA. When all is said and done, he would've had a shot with any of the countries he's eligible for, even Spain if it were ever an option
My only concern is he is in this spot where he is good enough to start but not so good that he sees much of the ball and wonder how that works out for his development. Some of that has to do with the counter attack nature of Valencia but you can also see players with the ball look him off as an option. This is where the Copa Del Rey matches against Segunda B teams are very helpful, imo. He has a great future as physically he is all there, has a nice base line of skills and is a team player.
I think that is it. Particularly in middle and own third. As an example there was an instance today where RWB had ball out by touchline near centerline and needed an outlet. Musah presented himself square inside and that was the pass to make but the guy hesitated like “maybe I shouldn’t?” Then he got pressured and had to make the pass. Musah got stripped but fortunately turned out to be a foul. He is like the high potential guy that you want to include but need to remain aware that he is still learning.
I hated all the time wasting today. I mean he probably genuinely had cramps and he did roll his ankle but just felt like it worked against them. What a bummer of a result but great goal and hopefully it turns in to more chances.

Always good to find a chance to shit on others players, right? Otherwise how would we know we were on BS.
Here I thought I was dumping on a poster for using one of my favorite redundancies, namely saying someone has a future ahead of them. By definition, your future is ahead of you. I just find that phrase funny.
Great future is fine. Great future ahead of you is funny to me. I mean, have you ever heard "he has a great legacy behind him?" Maybe from time to time, but hardly every, as most people grok that a legacy is by definition behind you. "He has a great legacy" suffices. Sort of how British soccer announcers pretty unanimously think "ironic" is a synonym for "coincidental." How often have you heard them say, it would be ironic if he scored against his former team, for example, and thought, that has ******** all to do with irony.
It would be ironic if the wedding was happening on June 1, and the person getting married was the local weatherman who was known for assuring all the viewing audience that it never rains on June 1.
