They remind me of the old joke about the best birthday present for a relative you don't like but you can't avoid spending the money on: buy him a ticket to the next Stoke City game. If you really don't like him, buy him tickets to two Stoke games.
Yunus Musah returned to training today. Unclear if he will be able to play vs Sevilla tomorrow in La Liga but it certainly won't be long before he returns to his starting role at Valencia. https://t.co/YbiqVgNSKj— ChuckMe92 Soccer (@ChuckMe92Soccer) December 21, 2020
Certainly a legendary free kick taker, Sinisa Mihajlovic, but he did not score from a direct free-kick in 1998 at the World Cup against the U.S. (I went back to watch just in case I was misremembering; his shot was parried by Friedel and Komljenovic buried the rebound ). See 15 second mark: Perhaps you are remembering his free kick goal against Iran in the group stage of the same World Cup? It went *around* the wall, and was a fabulous strike: Fun fact- Mihajlovic still holds the record for the most direct free kick goals in Serie A - with 25!
Correct. A very tough shot for Friedel to deal with. He even managed to parry it out wide rather than back into the center of the box, so he was rather unlucky that it fell to a Yugoslav in that position. Anyway, Bruce may have misremembered on that particular goal, but he's spot on in describing Mihajlovic's dead-ball technique/ability; from a direct free kick he could get the ball up and over the wall and then to bounce directly in front of the goal line. I watched loads of Serie A in the '90s and saw him do it many times. And it was an absolute nightmare for keepers. Yep. And there was one particular match in which he scored a hat-trick of free kicks for Sampdoria.

On the bench today vs. Granada. It's like they don't care that this one is on Bein Sports. Would think he's somewhat likely to play, though.
It is working again. Musah has been on the bench of late. Really hope he can come in and make a difference.
Well... Musah's replacement (Jason) was red-carded. He was already on a yellow... coach should have subbed him but man, that was a stupid move on his part.
OMG... a 2nd red card! Valencia down to 9 men! What a break down in discipline. Musah now coming in.... around the 75th minute.
Rough loss. I'll go for the silver lining and say that the red card to Jason makes it more likely that Musah gets the start or minutes next time out? I'm reaching.
Musah had a couple rough outings and needed a rest IMO. He should get the next start and hopefully get back to playing well. He had some nice passes and holdup play in this sub appearance but muffed one good opportunity. I really wish they would play him up the middle instead of on the midfield wing.
When did Valencia become so bad? This century, they've usually been one of the better teams in Spain and one of the few teams not named Barca or Real Madrid to win multiple trophies. Now they're scrapping to avoid the relegation zone. https://images.app.goo.gl/zhddrEUJLF9r8pBB8

Musah is one of UEFA's 50 rising stars for the future. Looking at all the names, it's evident that the future is now.
