Nice Musah summary from the Atalanta perspective. There are great quotes in every paragraph, worth reading in full ... https://www.tuttoatalanta.com/zingo...ha-preso-il-centrocampista-che-mancava-121823 "Yunus Musah isn't a "stopgap"; he's a solution-generator. He arrives from AC Milan on a loan with an option to buy, wears the number 6, and, above all, brings what Juric needs immediately: pace, stamina, aggressive reading of the game, and a natural propensity for playing on the big pitch. He's not a playmaker who puts you to sleep, he's an engine that revs: the more you push him, the more he revs up." Solution Generator! Yunus Musah at Atalanta (olf AC Milan) Reving Engine! Next few Musah matches I’m gonna watch while chain smoking and downing espressos. Perhaps I’ve missed something.
IMO, the best he has ever played was at DM when he wasn't expected to make the final pass (his most glaring weakness as an O player). Unfortunately, he had the propensity to give a pass or two away per game... but his recovery speed is legit, he makes crucial tackles and can really open up transition movements using his dribbling pace/ability. I am hoping he just needs more minutes at DM to clean up said few errant passes.?.? <fingers-crossed>
Musah got his feet wet, part of a triple sub at 75’, the match well in hand. Finished 4-1 Atalanta. Could this mean a start in Wednesday’s CL match at PSG? Almost certainly maybe!
Almost finished 5-1 to Atalanta with Musah getting an assist...but he was offside in the buildup so it was called back.
Also agree and he could be an improved Adams if he learns to really play the position. Not easy though as we've all seen players who just can't or won't man the spot and mostly stay and screen, be tough and do all the dirty work. Will Musah yearn to dribble way upstream? Be bad if there's no one behind him in midfield and he loses lots of possessions.
I tend to forget how consistently good Atalanta has been over the past dozen years or so - they've had a few "bad" seasons - landing in 7th or 8, but like what, 4 of last 10 years been in top 3, and maybe 6 of 10 in top 4? Not too shabby. Guess we need a new thread title. Has anyone seen Tyler Perry?: Yunus Musah at Atalanta
In regards to Yunus as a DM: He absolutely must clean up his passing. turnovers by a DM are just plain bad JUJU and that has been the story of Yunus for the last couple of seasons. No end game and cerebral flatulence at the eorst possible spots and or moments in the game. He is a top top player if he gets it sorted, if not....well he will probably still make a living at the game, but will fall far short of his potential.
I think we need to see him get significant minutes at the DM position to know whether he has a problem w/ poor give-aways. I recall several poor passes over the years but the guy has played all over the pitch for every team he has played for. I am hopeful if he is given a run of time at DM that he can find his groove. <fingers-crossed>
Musah remains a definite maybe for today's CL match at PSG. "Multiple sources, including Sky Sport and Gazzetta, claim that Atalanta will pick Yunus Musah in central midfield and Mario Pasalic as an attacking midfielder, while Tuttosport and TMW report that Daniel Maldini will start as an attacking midfielder, with Pasalic in the middle of the park."
