    Youth Yanks Abroad -- update

As I am now tracking birth year in the Yanks Abroad list I thought I'd print out a list of current (off-season moves notwithstanding) names starting from 1981 and younger.

Casey Conor 1981 Karlsruher SC Germany
Daniels Christopher 1981 Berliner AK Germany
Hangeland Brede 1981 Viking FK Norway
Jones Jermaine 1981 Eintracht Frankfurt Germany
Joy Ian 1981 Chester City England
Menjivar Carlos 1981 FAS El Salvador
Rachubka Paul 1981 Charlton Athletic England
Cue Jeremy 1982 KSV Klein-Karben Germany
    Kazlauskas Charles 1982 Nijmegen Holland
Morales Jinka 1982 FV Engers Germany
Myhill Boaz 1982 Bristol City England
    Oneywu Oguchi 1982 Metz France
Urbas Hermann 1982 SpVgg Unterhaching Germany
Yi Alex 1982 Royal Antwerp Belgium
Colon Dimitris 1983 SGV Freiburg Germany
Cue Robert 1983 FV Bad-Vilbel Germany
Davidson Jun Marques 1983 Omija Ardija Japan
Palomares Raul 1983 NK Zepce Bosnia
    Simis Bryan 1983 Bamberg Germany
Stewart Tim 1983 FC Den Bosch Holland
Cuomo Gabriel 1984 SV Wehen Germany
Johnson David 1984 Willem II Holland
    Karbasiyoon Danny 1984 Arsenal England
Sam Lloyd 1984 Charlton Athletic England
    Simek Frank 1984 Arsenal England
    Whitbread Zak 1984 Liverpool England
    Bryant Cooper 1985 Mainz-Gonsenheim Germany
Archer Zach 1986 Unaio Badeirantes Brazil
Parratt Tom 1986 Birmingham City England
Spector Jonathan 1986 Manchester United England
    Westberg Quentin 1986 Troyes France
Purdin Christian 1987 Schweinfuhrt 05 Germany
Rossi Giuseppe 1987? AC Parma Italy

    A few provisos here:
Hangeland has played for Norway and I believe is cap-tied.
Jones -- same thing for Germany. Very promising player.
Menjivar -- capped by El Salvador.
    Rachubka -- capped by England.
Sam -- no apparent interest in playing for us.
    Whitbread -- Nuff said.
Rossi -- not sure it's the right guy.

Here are the guys for whom I don't have birthdates but who I'm pretty sure are (or could be) pre-81:
    Bishop James Peterborough England
    Carter Danny Waldhof Mannheim Germany
    C'Debaca Seth NEC Nijmegen Holland
    Denny Jay Stoke City England
    Flores Sergio Chacarita Juniors Argentina
    Grenier Josh TuS Koblenz Germany
    Gross Livio St. Mirren Scotland
    Johnson Jemal Blackburn England
    Kim Chuck Alemania Aachen Germany
Ordonez Christopher Talleres de Cordoba Argentina
    Reimer Alex Kanbawza Bank Myanmar
    Shepherd Aaron Cambuur Leuwaarden Holland
    Steketee Randall Fortuna Babelsberg Germany

If anyone knows YOB for those guys -- please share!

Not exact, but I'm pretty sure I'm ball park close.

If I'm not mistaken, Giuseppe was part of the ODP Europe program. His dad was a prominent youth coach in New Jersey and somewhat recently moved back to Italy -- to be closer to his family, I believe. So he may have dual citizenship.

Also, I forgot to add the new German-based goalkeeper Yeldell who is supposedly signing for Blackburn soon.

As for those ages, Wanderer -- thanks. I got them filled in precisely by another poster through PM. I'll try to get the update published soon (not that it is of gripping importance).

I assume this list includes Yanks that aren't eligible for US teams (e.g., Rachubka). Or is it that such players aren't yet cap-tied, despite evidence that they don't want to play for the US (e.g., Lloyd). Just trying to avoid confusion for the inevitable "but he's not eligible" postings.

I tried to make that clear in the first post...

    D.C. give or take
    Jemal Johnson is a 84
    James Bishop is a 83
    Sergio Flores is a 85
Denny is an 86 (if no ones said that yet)

    Also, add

    Brian Mascarenhas (87) - Tottenham
    Will Johnson (87) - Liverpool

Johnson doesn't have US citizenship but is in the process of getting it and says he wants to play for the US (he's a Chicago kid born in England)

What about Justin Papadakis (Benfica). I know he went right after last year's national championships but then I don't know what happened to him.

And is Bryce Wegerle still in the Udinese system?

And what's said about Whitbread? I thought he was tied to us as he got an U-20 cap? I know he was in camp, but he didn't get a cap?

good list - the youngest kuykendall boy from No. Virginia is at Top Oss reserves in Holland if I'm not mistaken. The first two came back to play at AU, but if the club is interested that could become a pro situation, not sure.

Are Erik Violante (UPenn, PSG) and Joe Vide (UVA, 1860 Munich) still tied to their old clubs - will they have deals when they get back, I know Vide was offered pro terms before he left.

    A few things.

-- Is the Johnson move official?

-- When was Vardan Adzemian born? (I'm guessing 81 or so?) Is he still in Greece?

-- Wegerle is not at Udinese. He's bounced around since leaving. Not sure where he is at the moment.

-- I'm not sure about Papadakis. He played with his American club last year. I believe he always intended to play college. I think someone said he was looking at Duke.

-- The Kuykendall in question is Jason, I believe.

-- No idea about Violante or Vide. Vide will have a lot of responsibiliy for Virginia this fall. Violante had a great freshman year and apparently had some kind of trial/training in France this summer (but not with PSG).

-- There's also Sam Westberg who is presumably Quentin's little brother. Not sure if he has a club but Quentin was at INF Clairefontaine (the French academy so many Sam is too).

-- I didn't get into the Whitbread thing because it's been discussed ad nauseum on this board. I think he's discussed in the current U-20 thread.

-- I have some other names I'll try to dig up.

Richie Frank from AZ on trial at Ipswich beginning today.

I'm told Brian Claarhut (SP?) going on trial at Grimsby Town

Didn't he used to post here all the time? Well, Brian, if you get time we'd love to hear from you.

Good to hear about Richie. Any idea if there are passport issues with these guys?

So I guess Frank's trial at Arsenal didn't work out as well as Karbissiyoon's.

Richie's trial has been delayed due to a quad injury. Not sure on the timetable. They don't seem too exorcised about it, which is the right attitude. He has an EU passport btw.

Johnson trials are going well. Hope to have a report before long.

    Haven't heard about Clarhaut.

Mascarenhas has begun training with Spurs - must be an exciting time.

I know of at least one more pending trial I'm waiting on permission to report. Big stuff that one.

Also one pending signing likely to come after the U17 World Championship.

One other trial, should be starting fairly soon - Kevin Vandenberg, Michigan kid - on trial at Brondby in Denmark. I've seen him play and he's quite good. He has a lot of colleges interested as well so he's keeping options open.

Hhmmmm.... let the speculation begin. I'm gonna guess (and hope) Chad Marshall. Given that the 17s are all with the U17 team, I'm gonna assume it's none of them.

Here, I'm gonna guess Szetela. Did will in England with the 87s, eligible for an EU, not going to college this fall...

How old is this kid and what position does he play?

Also, when will we here anything about a Kenny Cooper decision?

I'm gonna go with Sandon and say it's Szetela also. VanDenBerg is an 87 from Michigan. He's a midfielder, in an attacking role I think.

A sams-army website writer was on hand for the Blackburn scrimmage. Said a scout from a Birmingham-area club was there to see a US midfielder. I also suspect it's Szetela -- now, what are the clubs there? Birmingham City, of course... Villa? Anyone else?
