Josh Pynadath must lead the all-time competition of most posts about a player without him ever playing a 1st team professional game.

Apparently AZ believes he worth $450K salary. We have plenty of players that aren't making a quarter of that with longer threads. Besides his dribbling is so good that it deserves hundreds posts by itself.

He's not making an NON-EU salary, counts as domestic. Was in England because a parent apparently moved there however I assume FIFA wasn't satisfied with the rationale.

Flashy dribbling skills will do that. Makes for great clips.

The rest of his game, not so much.

I really like that move for Griffin Yow, and will like it for Tyler Wolff too.
These are the types of prospects that aren't going to be able to start in MLS.
    [Just my opinion.]
Go to a league like Belgium and see if you can use it as a stepping stone.

Our development programs aren't just going to produce stars. We should be happy they're producing young players going to these types of clubs too.

    Agree.

Yow had 3 starts and <300 minutes through half a season with DC likely trending for less minutes in the second half of the season when DC strengthen their squad.

It seems like the right level for him. A step above USL, but a step below MLS. It could be used as a step-up the European ladder, but also could just be a stepping stone like Durkin back to DC and into the starting line-up in MLS.

Wolff in the 2nd Tier in Belgium doesn't seem quite like as great of a move but it gets you to Europe, but that seems like USL or below type of level.

I always think about how it’s really not to late for the trajectory of these kids to completely change in these new environments either.

It’s also worth remembering it’s so much easier to move up the ladder if you are on the same continent as much of the ladder. How many mid level Euro teams are scouting USL or MLS. Much easier to be seen in Belgium than in Birmingham.

Now the tough part is it’s a less forgiving more competitive environment. If you don’t find success you can get buried pretty easily.

If I am Yow, I need 1-2 productive seasons before moving to a better team/league. That is more likely to happen in Belgium than DC

And yet three kids from Birmingham have played in Europe recently and two are signed to somewhat big contracts there. The oddest thing is I think they are the only three kids to ever turn pro from Birmingham and they're all close to he same age.

I agree for the most part but things are changing real quick here.

The US is being scouted as never before.

These kids aren‘t the tactically incompetent, technically limited product we used to produce.

I think the Yow move shows that. He is no standout. He has MLS minutes and there are clearly scouting reports on him.

That‘s why a team like this has come for him. Does anyone think anything other than mid table D1 Belgium is in Griffin‘s future?

Nothing wrong with that, but I think his level has already been understood for the most part. His moving up the ladder isn‘t going to be that far IMO. He isn‘t some unpolished stone of hidden gem that is gonna transform and be a Big 5 player.
Of course that has been the US fan fantasy for so long I think it is engrained to some extent.
I think the US becoming a real footballing nation, along with the world starting to pay attention and understand the landscape and levels here, along with all of the scouting means a player is going to be fleshed out real quick. The go to Europe and you will be seen and move up mantra is going to get old real quick IMO.

There won‘t be many surprises anymore. There were never that many anyway but there was a lot of misguided hope.
