We all know Sporting develops the best players but Porto has the best youngsters right now (not all developed by them of course)

    Bruno Gama
    Marcio Sousa
    Paulo Machado
    Nuno Coelho
    Daniel Candeias

Sporting still has the best Youth system. Of all the Porto players you named if they were ready wouldn't they have called them up? And why sign all the players from Brazil?

Sporting has 2 players that could be on the first team, Saleiro and Moutinho. Plus they have more players out on Loan to other clubs in Portugal. Between the Juniors, Juvenis and Iniciados they don't have a loss this year and have only been tied 3 times. Each one of these Youth teams sit in first place in thier respective leagues.

How many Porto prospects have been sold over the last 5 years? Postiga and who else? And Postiga came back to them. Deco was signed out of Brazil by Alverca the he went to Salgueiros before Porto got him. Besides that Porto have a history of using other teams to scout and then out bidding them for players. Classic example is Pepe from Maritimo, after 2 tryouts with Sporting, Porto swooped in offered more money and landed the player. Nuno Valente is another Sporting product.

The Sporting Academia is head and shoulders above the other teams in terms of producing players and having the best facility bar none.

Figo did go through the Sporting academy, as did Paulo Futre. I am not too sure about Paulo Sousa, but I don't think that Rui Costa came through Sporting's academy.

If you don't know that Figo came through the Sporting youth system that you are in need of a history lesson.

I admit, Sporting have the best youth system in Portugal. Just look at the players that they have produced in the last few years. Too bad they had to let them go way before they shined in the superliga..........

That's my point, Porto doesn't develop the best young players...they buy them. Right at this moment they have some of the best young players in the country. The Porto youth team would be crap if they didn't do this.

I think Benfica has learned a lot from Sporting. If you go to their website, it looks like they have built up a good youth academy with nice facilities and schools.

I have to agree with you, Benfica his doing a good job with the youth, they also got Benfica B team in first place and could be moved to Div B, other teams like Sporting, Academcia, once they got relegated they gave up on the B team's

Beira-Mar made a deal with Avanca to be the B team, and its paying off, Paulo Sergio before playing against Porto, was with the III division team for a few games
