That's right Frederic Piquionne has signed a year deal with you guys and we are finally rid of the 40k a week sapping leach who cant hit a barn door with a banjo. Your views on this momentous occasion Timber fans?
He appears to be 3rd or 4th on the depth chart for the Timbers, so I'm fine with it. He was brought in for 1 year to fill a hole made by Bright Dike's ACL injury during the preseason. He's didn't overly impress during the preseason, but he seems like he could be a decent tactical switch late in games. I also know for sure we aren't paying that kind of money for him, so all in all, not a bad move. It's not like we're counting on him being a name for the team =D.
We lost a projected starter (Dike) for the year to injury in preseason. So Piquionne is kind of an emergency signing outside of the transfer window. He's probably only making about 6-8k a week in MLS. Hopefully he doesn't suck that bad in our league.
I heard he bought himself out of the contract because he is still contracted to us until the end of the season. But hell when you are earning over 2 million a year you can afford to pay 700k to buy yourself out of a contract!
im supporting Portland over LAME NY REDBULLS you guys got more frenchies anyways ! any lines up tonight ?
To find large numbers of Timbers fans, go to places other than BigSoccer, like StumptownFooty.com. Full disclosure, my brother writes for the site.
That site is very well written. Had I thought of doing so, I would have plugged it as well, and I have no connection to it.
Just out of interest I have seen the MLS salaries 2013. Is piqman earning 140k a week, month or a year? http://deadspin.com/here-are-the-salaries-of-every-mls-player-493176055
Year. A lot of players come over and don't get the big payday that people abroad think they are. In fact, most come over and play for very little just for the experience of playing in America.
The experience of playing in America = Playing soccer, making decent money, and being able to go about town and be a normal human being off the pitch.
