Who would you love to see the US play in a friendly? I'd love to see them play Wales at say RFK. Then England. Usa and Mexico is always the greatest of games.
I admit that when I moved to the US I got to see the US play against Mexico on TV, in the Gold Cup final in San Diego I think. Meola was injured early in the 1st half, and unfortunately we lost but that was one of the most exciting soccer games I'd seen in The US. I have it on tape somewhere. I loved it!
I just think the US team missed a great window opportunity to play a friendly in Europe this past few days, wish it would have been Scotland-USA instead of Canada just one that comes to mind, but there might have been other possibilities, and much better competition then to say El Salvador
I would like to see us play England in England. I think we finally have a team that can compete with them without having to rely on luck. Plus it would be fun to log on to the English websites to see all of the mud slinging if we managed to beat them. I agree that we did miss an opportunity to schedule a quality friendly in Europe. During the MLS offseason, we need to take advantage of the available training time. We should be checking the Euro 2004 qualifying schedule and setting up a friendly with the best available opponent who is not already scheduled to play on any given match day. I guess that is wishful thinking. It would take considerable $$$$$$.
I'd like to see us play England, because if we win it's much easier to talk junk in a language I know. P.S. Congratulations Paul on Wales' great win Wednesday
to tell the truth, I dont think beating England would be that hard for us now....look at them....they struggled to tie all mighty Macedonia....
USMNT vs USWNT in a panties and bra match. The guys can play without their shirts for the girls in attendance.
The US opening the new Wembley Stadium infront of a 100,000 screaming, drunk hooligans. Eddie Lewis crosses to Jovan Kirovski who chests it down, turns Ashley Cole around and blasts it past David Seaman (if the hooligans haven't killed him yet for getting England knocked out of Euro ualifying). Right before half time John Thorrington takes a sweet Claudio Reyna through ball nutmegs Rio Ferdinand and beats the hapless Seaman again. at around 60 Michael Owen takes a PK only to be stone-walled by Brad Friedel. Reyna finishes off the scoring with a blistering free kick in 85th. My dream Friendly. Probably only to happen in my dreams as I doubt that that England have the balls to open Wembley by playing the US
That dream isn't too realistic. I can't recall one goal where Reyna blasted a free kick into the goal. They were all Clintinho. Reyna is one hell of a guy on corners and free kicks which swing away from goal to be headed in. Blasting in a free kick though is pretty unlikely if Reyna is the one who is doing it. Opening Wembley would be fantastic. I would be happy at Old Trafford. I just hope there is enough advance notice so that I can book my flight.
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say my dream friendly would be against Argentina in Buenos Aries with the US winning on 2-0 on two late goals by Donovan and Beasley.
Hey its my dream. I could have Jeff Agoose making a run beating the Entire English team, bounce a ball off the crossbar to himself so he could bicylce-kick in the goal. I mean in reality he probably wouldn';t be able to do that against 8th graders. But I would love it if the English opened up Wembley by playing us. I mean in all likelyhood we'd lose by a few goals because the English would be playing like its a World Cup final infront of their home fans while we wouldn't be. But it'd still be awsome
looking forward to this friendly.... against germany anywhere in cali. 5-0 USA. that would make my day.
U.S.A. against Holland in Holland and us beating them. Or against England or Italy or Germany. I think the U.S. should schedule a few more away friendlies than they did last time around so the younger guys can have that experience.
I guess it would also be nice to play and beat Germany in Germany. I don't think we have ever beaten Germany in Germany. Playing and beating England at Wembley would be great (That would shock the World) but I don't think the team would get out alive if they did.
