My mother (who was born in Wales) visited this summer and bought me a scarf from a team in Coventry. Any info on them for me?
Come on people everyone knows Aber. Town is the best. I have an old Caernarfon Town scarf too. I used to live up in the area. But I was born in Aberystwyth, and they will always be my team.
Bangor City's unofficial website www.citizens-choice.co.uk is an excellent site and also has a links page to virtually every other Welsh footy site. Anyone here going to San Jose on the 26th?
Coventry are in the English Midlands, recently playing in the English 1st Division. Just South of Birmingham, and on the Border with Wales, it isn't surprising to find Coventry scarves in Wales. They play at Highfield Road, in light blue colours, and their manager is/was Gary McAllistair.. of Leeds, Liverpool and Scotland fame.
The IL update The IL has been updated to now comprise of 16 teams, and I noticed you left out Institute from you original list of last year...
What are the Welsh Clubs that play in English non-League Football and which leagues do they play in? I don't much about the League of Wales or the Welsh teams in English Non-League, so I am curious as to which has better standard of play?
a couple of Welsh teams play in the Egnlish lower Divisions. Cardiff recently got promoted to the English First Division. (Promotion via Playoff from the Second Division after finishing 6th) Swansea play in the English Third Division and finished 21st www.cardiffcityfc.co.uk www.swanseacity.net Welsh teams that play in Wales are....rubbish to say the least, and the ones that play in England aint much better. Rugby is more of the number 1 sport in Wales, and there league has hardly any funding.
Absolute bollocks from someone who so obviously doesn't know the first thing about Wales! Rugby is only number 1 in the eyes of the media which is run by ex-rugby stars. You also forgot about Wrexham - promoted to the second division in England last season. And Welsh sides in Wales are rubbish ...? How close to Glasgow do you live? I suppose supporting your local side wasn't an option? You sound to me like a glory hunter, and I bet a pound to a bucket of sh!t that you support Man Utd as a 'second' team.
Glentoran and Hearts Glentoran's (of Northern Ireland) official website is http://www.glentoran.net. Its very good and their mailing list is excellent (you can subscribe through the website). I came into interest in them when I visited Ulster this past spring and dropped in for an away cup match of theirs, was impressed with their play and fans. Hearts official website is http://heartsfc.co.uk. Its also excellent. If anyone knows what the closest Scottish League club to Peebles is (not just Premiership, but any League club), I'd be interested, since that's where my family's from.
I think it would probably be Hearts, by the A701/A702 about 25 miles. http://www.theaa.com/travelwatch/planner_main.jsp (type in Peebles and whichever place is the destination, eg Edinburgh) Hibs is further away because it is on the far side of Edinburgh (Leith). Berwick and Queen of the South (Dumfries) are also within about 50 miles. The only teams that are in this area are East of Scotland League - http://www.eastofscotlandfa.org/ - teams, one of which is Peebles Rovers. Gala Fairydean (Galashiels), which is about 10 miles from Peebles, have unsuccessfully applied for SFL status a few times. To be honest the whole area is better known for rugby union, although Scottish international of some repute John Collins (Hibs, Celtic, Monaco, Everton and Fulham) came from Galashiels.
Last fall I went to match Bangor City. It was a nice little stadium. It was the first time I've been to northwest Wales. What beautiful country, I'm looking forward to going back again for another visit.
