After a summer break, our heroes are back in action, brimming with confidence after their victories before the break. With the full support of the citizens, in their last battle in their old fortress, they face an old foe in red. This group of red clad heathens looks to jump start their campaign against our lovable CREW, who now have regained their belief. In the special one off, it was revealed that the deception led by the leaders was in fact not a deception at all, but rather a double cross. E.V.I.L. was duped by the leaders into thinking our heroes would change their identity, and planned to strike accordingly, but when they saw our yellow wearing heroes, they retreated back into their lair. So now, with the timeline in no way, shape, or form, incongruent, will our heroes continue their march to glory?
While there's a small chance of rain on Saturday, all in all, it looks like a pretty great week, weather-wise. Sun, cooler temps, low humidity.
For tailgate, we will have an RV over by the mega tailgate area. Really going to be more of a byob/byof event so come over to say hi, or come over and over-stay your welcome. Always good to have chairs/cooler, etc. We will pass a hat at some point if anyone wants to help with the RV costs but nobody is under any requirement to pay.
I know what you mean, but here's my guess: Columbus in black and them in white. OR Columbus in white/gray/whatever that is and them in blue. Why the hell can't this classic matchup be yellow vs red?
This will be my 5th "Last Game" if I recall correctly--though it turned out that in one case it actually wasn't. Connie Mack Stadium, Riverfront Stadium, Veterans' Stadium, and St. John Arena, and now HSC.
Last Crew match at the old erector set. The first. The best. So many good (and fuzzy) memories. So happy to have one more chance to enjoy it. I'll miss it. I love going back and reading through these: https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/favorite-crew-games-fan-experiences.2076867 https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/favorite-crew-memory.2093746/page-2 What a great place. EDIT: The Crew are taking votes on favorite moments at HCS. Some of these are good. Others (First #HellisReal Win at HCS, loooool)? Not so much.
Well looks like there are around 50 tickets left that aren't resale and not too many resale tickets. They sold a handful today. They did release 4 tickets in the South end. I wonder if that was another adjustment. I also wonder if the NW corner will also be nordecke seats. Glad it will be a sell out. I wish they would bring out the green bleachers, but I'm betting they were sent to the dump already.
Those goddamned, rickety wooden bleachers? You needed the skills of a professional logroller to stay on those things they were so wobbly. Standing on them, that is.
The real last game at SJA? I was courtside for the most-recent last game a few years ago. I'm sure that "real" last game was an incredible experience though. I was at the last OSU hockey game at the Ice Rink and the last game at Ohio Stadium in 1998 before the field was lowered. That OSU Ice Rink...yeah, I don't miss it, other than the convenience store across the street being a good place to buy concessions at intermission.
Anyone have an inside line on when the parking lots open? Or are we back to BAU and get there as soon early as you want?
Bring back the "tower to Crew Cat" video one last time, you cowards! Actually, for goofiness' sake they should play an extended cut of the "tower to Crew Cat" video on 07/03 with an added flyby of Crew Stadium. Do it, you cowards!
Screw it...since Crew v. Toronto should have been yellow v. red and it couldn't, they might as well throw all cares to wind and wear the ocean trash jerseys again. Nothing screams "Historic Crew Stadium" to me more than the Crew wearing blue, Chicago wearing light blue, and the teams rocking their current logos. Catch the feeling!
I moved out my dream house a few years ago. I baby’d that house like it was a member of my family. Saw my kids grow up there. Spent countless hours manicuring the lawn, repainting the inside, cleaning the carpets so the new owner could move in to a well respected house. It was a sad day. The next day we moved to a newer, bigger house and I didn’t think about the old place more than once since. My point is, I will enjoy myself this Saturday, I will absolutely soak in the views. My family and I have so many memories at HCS. After the game is over and we head home, it’s in to bigger and better things. Best in MLS in 1999. I think on July 3rd, I’ll have a new best friend.
I had forgotten about Oduro's pizza slice. I know we just won MLS Cup at home, but I still think I have to vote for the 2008 ECF against the Fire. The quality of the match, the two iconic goals -- that was the breakthrough the club had been waiting for; the moment we declared that we were for real in MLS, after coming up short so many other times. (And the fact that I was actually THERE helps.)
And, unlike is normally the case when you sell a house, with a little luck, we may be able to take in a Crew 2 game or concert at the old stadium every now and then. Though it'll be strange seeing the place with artificial turf.
