Staying within the current squad of players we know or believe are fit --

    Here's my lineup:

    GK - Kiely

    Right Back: Young

Center Back 1: Perry [Rufus when fit]

Center Back 2: Powell or Fortune [I know Powell is typically outside, but he obviously can't get past HH and would be better than Fish]

    Left Back: HH

Right Mid: Sam or Stuart [let the lad start, bring on Stuart to spark late]

Left Mid: Thomas or Holland[? can Matt play the wing?]

    Defensive Mid: Holland or McCafferty

    Attacking Mid: Euell or McCafferty

Striker 1: Cole or Bartlett or Euell

    Striker 2: DiCanio

This would be a good mix of youth and experience.

    Thoughts?

What about Lisbie? Or Jonathan Johannsen?

GK- Kiely [I would like to see what Rubachabka can do soon though]

    RB - Young

CB - Rufus is the best choice when not injured. Perry has done a good job though.

    LB - HH

RW - I like the idea on Lloyd Sam, not sure if he is ready yet. Campbell-Rice.

    DM - Holland

    CM - McCaffery or Jensen

    LW - Thomas

    AM - Euell

ST - Cole or Bartlett or Lisbie

ST - Di Canio or Johannsen

I think with the players a 3-5-2 would work the best. That is just my opinion. Play Holland in a sort of Stopper role behind the midfield. He does a good job of going forward when the oppourtunity arises.

I wish there were a few more solid defenders in the back. Mabye that could be a target of Curbs during the summer. I would love to see the ex-Servette player Philipe Senderos who is with Liverpool with the Addicks. He is 20, but has a lot of experience.

Mabye Ryan Nelson from DC United?

A 3-5-2 would be interesting. I don't know when, but Curbs tried this in the fall in a match and it was awful. Or at least we lost and fans on the BBC 606 say we played terrible.

We certainly have a number of midfielders and it would be good to put a lot of them out there.

My concern is the defense though. We really need to tighten up in the back -- especially in the middle. I don't see a 3-5-2 helping with that unless you have a defensive mid that is a monster. And we don't have that.

I think when Rufus gets fit, we will be better in the back. In the meantime, I would stay with 4 back and get Fortune or Powell out there. Fish has been stinking.

As far as Lisbie -- I don't know much about him. You will have to forgive me, this is my first season as a Charlton fan. I have only been loving the beatiful game for a few years and started with domestic U.S.

As far as JJ -- He hasn't really been finishing lately. And isn't he really a midfielder? He seems to play better going to the goal from out wide on the wing. He gets too wide as a striker to always be effective. Then again, I would still play him.

I could see Campbell-Rice on the wing.

By the way, I believe it is McCafferty, with a t before the y. At least that is how he is listed on the club's site.
