actually simao is the other option on the left. boa morte doesn't have a spot on the team. he's way too inconsistent with the nt and he's susceptible to doing something stupid and getting a red card. we don't need another joao pinto incident this year

I know this is probably a stupid thing...but did anyone consider adapting and rooster him as our 3rd striker?

Right Simao can go on the left and so can Figo, but we saw how Simao performed on the left against SCP. When Ronald Cuman invents and puts Simao or Nelson for that matter on the left they play horrible. Simao is a right winger and thats why Liverpool and Chelsea bot want him. I know Simao can play the right but LBM is a tough player and I could see him as a risk for red cards. However, he is not stupid like JVP. I could not see him hitting a ref before menino Ronaldo though. Danile_Alves raises a good solution. Bring him on as a third striker. This is perfect. Pauleta, Nuno, LBM. Now we can fit in everyone else in the midfield and we dont have to worry about goping into the trash for Postiga and Hugo Almeida. Like CSD stated earlier in this thread Vaz Te is ust too young and he has no experience.

simao has played on the left wing for years with benfica. it's always been simao on the left and giovanni on the right and simao has been great so far. i'm not a fan of postiga at all but the reason i picked him is because he always performs well for the national team given limited playing time. as long as gomes and pauleta are healthy the 3rd striker won't see much time anyway but boa morte has never played well for the national team. i've seen him play at fulham many teams and he's a great player for them but he hasn't shown much with nt. which is weird because postiga is the complete opposite.

i think ronaldo could be just as effective a striker as boa morte if need be. he's fast, can shoot and is good in the air. why not? if they ever get behind in a game i'd like to see figo and simao/quaresma on the wings and ronaldo alongside the striker

    I dont, one word: Overrated.

Simao is a right winger, although he sometimes plays on the left, he plays much better on the right.

simao doens't sometimes play on the left he sometimes plays on the right. he has played the left side for years. wingers are interchangeable anyway it doesn't really matter side they play

    My Squad:

    Goalkeepers: Quim, Vale, Ricardo

Defenders: Ferreira, Carvalho, Andrade, Caneira, Miguelito, Meira, Nelson, Miguel

Midfielders: Figo, Ronaldo, Deco, Quaresma, Boa Morte, Maniche, Petit, Moutinho, and a random spot to a youth (Nani?/Hugo Monteiro?/Martins?/Fernandes?/Ivanildo?/ etc.)

Forwards: Pauleta, Gomes, and Almeida or Postiga

I think it's a healthy mix of youth and experience, and that's what it's going to take to do well at the World Cup. We'll need high ambitions and a good group of members on the squad who'll be able to keep the younger players calm.

Exactly, youth and experience is what every team needs. Thats why I think either Moutinho, Fernandes, Vaz Te should get a spot. I still believe Fernandes has a chance to take someone starting spot...

I agree with you 100 on your last statements:D

I agree with alot of what you say except a few things.

No Vaz Te....not ready yet and i dont he ever will be..replace him with Varela who starts every game and is still young..maybe have carlos martins in there if he doesnt get injured..enormous talent in him and is doing very well already.

    As for your starting XI..

have pepe in place of da costa, and bosingwa in place of antunes( who i dont think is ready yet and not getting alot of playing time) and its perfect with manelele more in a maniche role but we all know our midfielders can rotate in alot of positions to perform various functions.

Scolari will stick with his friends though, once the euro roles around i bet we will see petit caniera gomes in the XI maybe even meira who is in simply horrible form right now instead of pepe/da costa.

    So frustrating.

I think Murtosa openned his eyes a little bit. Veloso might have taken that Role beside Maniche. Even Makukula has a decent shot, but Almeida is getting goals right now...
