http://www.feyenoord.com/domains/feyenoord/pages/article_v2.asp?content=12820000003443_2_12770000000008 It looks like young Ronald Vlaar is moving to Feyenoord rather than Spurs. That is too bad for ya'll - and probably for Liverpool, if Vlaar's signing was one of Jol's conditions for potentially considering the sale of Ledley King. Please tell me how that scrawny looking fellow in the photo in this link is supposed to be the next Jaap Stam, though.
I'm not to bothered by that, if he signed then ok but if he wanted guarantees on first team football then he should go elsewhere.
Don't be so silly. Davenport, Naybet and possibly Gardner out. Vlaar in. Why would they sell the club captain? Not like Spurs need the money.
There have been a lot of rumors swirling around about either Liverpool or Arsenal purchasing Ledley King from Spurs. Daily Mirror was one of the originating sources. Don't forget that a lot of times - it is not really up to the club whether or not a player gets to stay. If King continues to demand £80k/week for his new contract or if he senses that THFC are not going to qualify for Champions League - he could put your team in a world of hurt by handing in a transfer request. That would make it much harder for the club to get full value out of a sale, as other teams would not be willing to pay as high knowing the player wants to leave. Believe me, as a Liverpool fan, we found this out with Michael Owen. You sure do not want another Sol Campball situation on your hands. Then again, these rumors could be utterly false. I would love to have Ledley King at Liverpool. I doubt that he ends up here - just saying that he would finally give us the cover we need at central defense, so that we do not have to face a crowded fixture list in the second half of the season with only two world-class central defenders. Especially since King would be eligible for Champions League. An athletic central defender to complement either Hyppia or Carragher (neither of whom are particularly pacy) has been number one on my wish-list for 2+ seasons.
He stands head and shoulders taller than me - at least, he did when I stood next to him when he was getting interviewed after the PSV match. I was surprised at how big he really is. Don't let a photo fool ya.
It was his physique rather than his height (or lack thereof) that surprised me. Those arms are a bit reedy. Don't remember what Stam looked like in the past, but he looked pretty well-built much of the time he was at Man Utd. On the other hand, guys like Jonathan Woodgate were capable of elite performances as center-halfs in EPL without looking particularly strong through the upper-body.
It's agent talk leaked to the press. His agent has looked around at other club captains and the Ferdinand saga and sees that King is earning significantly less than his equals, so he's putting pressure on Spurs. That's fact. All the rest is speculation and circumstance, a case of 2+2=5. Seen anything from King saying he's unhappy? Nope, because he's not. Because he's very happy. Until there is anything from King or any OFFICIAL word - the Daily Mirror is a gutter tabloid that should never be quoted as a source, it is filth - then do not believe the stories. King has another 3 years left on his deal. Oh yeah, because Spurs would willingly sell their club captain to Arsenal.. and Arsenal of course have the money to spend on him. Yeah.. right.
Well said Danners. Would have been nice to have Vlaar if only so they could get rid of that clown Gardner for good and have some competition for Dawson. I'm sure they will find someone else for that though.
And the figure has been reported at 10 million pounds, which is 1 million more than we bid on a 16 year Soho kid. Anybody can makeup rumors, even rags. Watch. Spurs have been in talks with Liverpool to take disgruntled captain Steven Gerard off their hands for 5 million pounds. It's easy. Plus you just signed Kromkamp. Very, very good signing. Did Rafa make him go to Villareal for half a season to learn you're language
