Here you go, ESPN. A way to garner interest in MLS and American soccer in general. David v. Goliath. MLS v. USL. Straight-up single elimination. This is what it's all about. And ESPN needs to televise it again. Without ESPN, I wouldn't be lucky enough to witness history when Rochester defeated Columbus and Colorado in successive rounds. Oh, the good old days. Come back, ESPN!
Heck, getting any of these games on the regional channels would be an accomplishment, much less the ESPN family.
Wow...another soccer fan in Lansing, MI -- now the number is back up to 2. (Since I left, I thought Scott Yoshonis was the only one). I agree....let's start with getting local broadcasts. I think it starts with promotion within the soccer community. There are FAR too many soccer fans who don't know anything about the Open Cup.
The same time US sports start using a Pro/Rel system and the Lugnuts and Tigers play each other for the world series
Yeah, something like that...the Bud "I scape goated many players, turning a blind eye to steriods for 15 years" Selig Memorial Cup. Its a memorial because barry bonds killed him in a roid rage
We should start a "bring back the Lansing Locamotive PDL team" thread.... anyone remember that? I think Lansing could very easily support a PDL team, if it's done correctly. It would continue the long tradition of successful PDL teams in Michigan.
Damn, i don't think i've ever heard of them. Wish I had known what i know now about the beautiful game back in the day
Is there any software for running an NCAA style tournament (actually I am looking for freeware). I would like to set something up and the time is getting short. I have run it in the past using EXCEL and may still do it again, but that is not the preferred alternative.
I'm fellin' good about Ludington getting a team. Maybe PDL at first, but they could pro/rel their way up to MLS soon, and have a nice MLS cup with Real Manistee, or at least Muskegon Rovers.
