I guess the bright side is that he's one of the few players this year who didn't win the award while playing against the Metros. Corrales becomes the 3rd FORMER Metro to win the award this year: Mark Chung (twice), Tony Meola and now Corrales (who ironically edged out former Metro reject Alexi Lalas). It goes to show that sometimes it's not the player's fault for performing poorly, but instead it's the team's "system". If you saw Saturday's San Jose/Rapids match, you saw former players like Manny Lagos look like the second coming of Zidane (okay maybe I'm reaching a bit here). If Corrales was still with the Metros, there'd be no "MLS Player of the Week" awards as he'd probably be sitting the bench with Addo, Akwari.....(well, you all get the picture).
According to unofficial stats (no stat is official until confirmed by Dan R), only Tony Meola and Tim Howard have played more minutes than Corrales as a MetroStar without scoring a goal.
I blame pops for running him out of town. I always knew Ramiro was a tortured genius. Then again if we didnt get rid of him, my dad probably would have scaled the wall at 101 and chased Corrales down on the field and go postal on him.
printed out the wallpaper and put it up all over my room, it goes well with my Ezra Hendrickson papier-mache lamp... http://www.mlsnet.com/mm/02/wp/90m0827corralespow_1024.jpg
