You also get priority service. If there are a lot of users online (say a WCQ day or during the World Cup), it is the people that have paid a membership fee that get priority service.
That means that people who haven't paid the $30 will be more likely to get a message that says "Bigsoccer is busy, try again later," while people who have paid the $30 will, unless it is REALLY busy, be able to log in, post, etc.
I think it would be cool to seperate avatars from premium membership. The mid solution could be to click on commercial links a (reasonable) certain number of times and be allowed to get an avatar.
I demand large avatar sizes! I have some sweet avatars that I can't use because of the size restrictions. On other sites such as IGN.com and Empire.com you can have much bigger avatars and not pay. Why not here?
For me this rule is fine. i have seen other sites where members were keeping big pictures. most of the time even discriminating and ugly as avatars or signatures. So in the whole page you could have 5 lines of text and the rest was pictures. here you don't see it and it is NICE.
