The thing is that people don't watch other players suck and only remember them when they're good. Most of regular folks watch their team plus whatever else they catch on TV, and Dortmund (for example) is usually not on the menu. Former players on TV are criticizing Haaland's attitude, saying he's quit on the team but to me he's simply a young player who's going to have high highs and very low lows like all talented players do. They play vs Bremen on Sunday where i expect him to score multiple times since Dortmund are going to win by 4 or so, which is where the pendulum will swing in the other way and we'll see all those tweets about him being a demigod and a viking and what not all over again.

Chris Smalling was held at gun point in a home robbery. Scary stuff. https://www.skysports.com/football/...im-of-armed-robbery-while-at-home-with-family
My house was burgled once and once had someone on a moped drive up passenger side, smash the window with a spark plug, then try to grab my Grandma's purse at her feet during the 3 years I lived in Italy.

I'm not saying Haaland is not as good or worse for it, he's just a different player is what I was getting at. The pure number 9's are some of my favourite players and to be honest these days they are dying breed. I think at the moment it's rarer to find good pure number 9's (like Haaland) that are mainly finishers and excel more because of their movement and positioning rather than strikers that get more involved in the play and are decent on the ball but don't score as many goals.
Can't possibly give credit to James for doing something good tho, we have to keep up the charade of him not being world class.
He’s bossing it today. No doubt about it. Picking passes and Spurs aren’t pressing him. Everton looks wholly superior
Even with Mendy's moments of madness the flexibility which he gives us and his defensive strength make him the far better option over Reguilon.
Everton has a hand full of really top talent that scores goals and wins them games but they are garbage in other areas. I remember watching a game they dropped points because Pickford did something clumsy.
I'm not sure what else he was supposed to do there, that's practically an automatic goal for James and he had to interfere somehow.
Interfere by clipping his heel from behind in the box? I know you want to find any excuse for the guy, but he’s been so poor that he subbed out early and now Lucas Moura is playing wing back instead Provided nothing on the day offensively or defensively
LB should never be that far inside/central, he had to step in to pick up James out of necessity and did what he could but that play wasn't his fault despite what other failings he may have had on the day.
James puts in a corner that beats 4 defenders, lands on the foot of a teammate and the dude didn't know what to do and miss hit it out for a goal kick.
I see your point but let's consider his coaching too. Who says under Zizou he cannot be better. Either way, a Mendy/Reguilon rotation would be good for Madrid. On that note would you take back Theo Hernandez?
