Really good performance from Raines tonight. Dynamo got a 2-0 win and Raines will stay in the XI with how he’s been playing
great day for the youth players in both MLS and USL, would of been great to be topped off by a pierre/vazquez sighting when philly were up 3 nil but its whatever
Was glad to see Raines do so well. Houston has been a team I’ve had no interest in for a long time. Last 2 games Miller on NE has shown how good he can be. He’s got some things to work on but he’s definitely earned a consistent starting spot at LB which will need cover in the future for Robinson and after when he ages out.
I really like him as a player, it’s too bad that he is four months too old for any YNT duty He has a big upside
Miami hosting FC Dallas Benja Cremaschi starting for Miami Nolan Norris starting for Dallas I think both will be on the US team in Chile this fall
Many young players at FB will make the overlapping runs and put crosses into the box but they are content w/ being additional pieces around star players. I like how aggressive offensively both Miller and Freeman are from the FB positions. Both seem to want to BE star players.
Freeman’s game is so interesting because there are times he’ll play like an extra striker, and he has the frame and skill for it. I think he should get an exploratory look at the Gold Cup just because there isn’t another player in the pool who can play the position like he does.
'05 Tarik Scott came off the bench for the Dallas in this one. He's most recently been with Jamaica. ............................Dallas inexplicably came from two goals behind to win 4-3.

Shouldn't Vargas be listed as (Mexico)? Makes me wonder how many others on the list have dual citizenship and have chosen their alternative but are still listed as (USA).?.?
There are a lot of 2005s suddenly starting regular in MLS with little to none YNT caps or previous MLS minutes. That speaks well of MLS academy scouting and development.
Other than Gozo going the full 90min who should have had an assist there wasn’t a whole lot going on. Of course the usuals like Shore and Miller got starts.
Also, though he didn't draw (and shouldn't have drawn) a PK a bit later in the game, I like the aggression in the box on that sequence to try to make a play in a spot where some guys might have laid it off.
I thought he looked pretty good. I hope he gets more time in the near future. Between him, Luna and Eneli RSL have become one of the more intriguing MLS teams to watch from a USMNT perspective.
16-year-old Cupps went 90' at CB for the Fire and they held a clean sheet despite going down a man in the 37th minute. He became the youngest Fire player to make a start and he did it at a position that usually takes a lot of extra seasoning before a coach will trust them.
Brady did end up getting the red card because Cupps let McGuire get behind him. Still, Brady should have stayed home.
I felt like Cupps made a mistake with judging that ball, but I felt the whole sequence reflected too harsh because a red card was shown. The ball was bouncing high, McGuire had no control of it, he was looking into the sky trying to find it when he was fouled, and Cupps was a foot away with the leverage (running forward while McGuire was off balance trying to find the ball out of the sky). There's no way that's DGSO. It should've just been a tactical foul (probably yellow), and move on. Except, the collision looks bad and McGuire rolls around on the ground, so the ref gives a red. Then that'll appear like Cupps caused his teammate to take a red, but it was really just a bad call. No one would make a big deal over that one play (which was a negative for sure) if the referee simply made the right call and his teammate merely had to take a tactical yellow for his minor mistake. 2023 "MLS Referee of the Year" somehow.
How specifically is that a red? Framed another way, what do you disagree with about my explanation of why it isn't a red?
If Brady hadn't put his knee into McGuire's chest, he was past him with open net. Brady also took Cupps out of the play so I don't think you can count him as being a goalside defender (besides, he wasn't goalside). You can argue that Cupps had it covered, but Brady's postioning and recklessness makes it a weak argument, in my opinion. If it was in the box, I'd have agreed with yellow.
Yes, if Brady was in position it wouldn’t be DOGSO but since he was out of position and the net was wide open if he didn’t take McGuire out, I think it’s DOGSO.
That's definitely a debatable DOGSO. There was another defender running in behind. #3, whoever that is. But Brady absolutely cleared out McGuire. That was hard contact. So its likely the combination of the two. When the challenge first happened one of the Fire defenders (Gutman?) immediately put his hands to his face as he knew what was coming. I don't blame Cupps for that at all. That was a poor decision by Brady to come in THAT strong. Cleared everybody out. THOU SHALT NOT PASS!
