Do either of them have a habit of saying "Many people are saying" when in fact they just want to say something and never identify any of the many people? Cause that's what I'm comparing to.
Yes, the core of the post was clearly not the giant paragraph of content right below that. You got me. You're so smart.
Give him the starting job already With his shutout win tonight, Gavin Beavers became the third goalkeeper in @MLS history to win at least five games as a teenager in a single season. In Beavers’ eight regular-season starts this season, @realsaltlake has a 5-2-1 record with three shutouts. pic.twitter.com/beqaooUnbQ— MLS Communications (@MLS_PR) September 1, 2024 Yapi now with 2 goals in MLS and one in Leagues Cup (vs Toluca) DARREN YAPI! I’d also say McGlynn is back to the form he was in a few months ago when he was playing really well. Wonder where he’ll end up this winter. My bet is on on a mid-Ligue 1 or lower Seria A team.
I hadn’t heard about it but during the game Saturday the announcer mentioned Venezia being in for him.
I just saw Beavers contract expires at the end of this year Hopefully they can extend him a few years, give him a raise and the starting job, and then make a nice sale after a couple years experience
Miller got the start after subbing in the last couple games or so. Wasn’t as on his game as he was the first few, but all good learning moments for a 16yr old. He certainly showed some good flashes and he’s faster than I thought he was.

He’s the only one I’ve really enjoyed watching aside from Sullivan/McGlynn. There haven’t been any young prospects lighting it up in MLS the last 2-3 months. The 17yr old LB for NYCFC who seems to want to play for England has been behind O’Toole. I’m not sure if Akinbodi on DC got hurt or their hurt CBs are now healthy. Certainly some 19+ yr old guys that are doing well, but besides the ones I mentioned I’m not sure any have the potential to be as good as Pulisic/Mckennie/Reyna/Adams. Aidan Morris was the only one I felt who did. There certainly are plenty of young players who are continuing to get minutes such as Beavers, but very few with the kind of upside someone like Miller has who have the potential to be a lock USMNT starter in some years.
Feels more quiet in this thread this year than last. There’s still a few guys to be really excited about going forward. Although maybe it’s more quiet because there’s only a few guys that have shown they have the potential to play in a top 4 league sometime in the future? Luna for example scored this past weekend, but at 21 I feel like you need to be dominating in MLS to have a decent shot. Aside from Cavan Sullivan who has his own thread I think the following guys have a decent shot at playing in one of the top 4 leagues sometime in the future: Miller Q. Sullivan McFarlane Beavers Vargas (although he switched to Mexico) Barakterivic (although he switched to Bosnia). He’s also probably the least likely on this list to land at a club in the top 4 leagues Hall/Ngoma Akimbodi Of course there’s plenty of young guys that haven’t had an appearance or have had very limited minutes who could emerge next season. I think the difference between this year and last is last year I feel like there were some younger guys breaking through later in the season, or having a noticeable improvement in form. This year, aside from Miller there hasn’t been any young guys really emerging in the back half of the season.
It was inevitable to occur once a lot of the MLS clubs stopped giving guaranteed first team deals to their first team prospects. It was always going to result in less academy products making the bench, and with that less overall playing time.

Despite much angst over the U22 initiative, there's only six players on this list that are from outside the US/Canada, much less than I think a lot would have feared.
