This starting XI is embarrassing. You have so many solid prospects like Adyn Torres, Dominik Chong-Qui, Cooper Sanchez, and Gabriel Wesseh... and yet ATL2 chooses to go with a lineup with an average age of 23.8 years old. Disgraceful. https://t.co/GFl53CMHr1— USMNT Report 🇺🇸🇹🇷 (@USMNTReport) May 20, 2025
I've been impressed with Julien Lacher ('07) this season for NYCFC II. He first popped on my radar watching Generation Adidas last year, where his technical skill was really evident on that terrible dry and bumpy pitch. He's carried it through to 2025 as one of his team's most important players. He's aggressive and direct in his carrying and consistently gets into dangerous positions. I think he's a strong candidate for a homegrown contract, especially because NYCFC first team doesn't really have any young attackers like him.
Carrizo looked great in the first half against Chicago Fire II, scored a banger, and then was subbed presumably to keep him fresh for a bench spot on Sunday.

Great to see so many are now solving MLS (second one is a reference to Manuel Veth) If I was an MLS Owner:Because I know we won’t be relegated, I would go scour the country & world for young talent between the ages of 15-19 years old. Play them until a bigger club in Europe or South America comes to buy-them. Then , I would cash in. Rinse and repeat.— Kyle Wilson (@AngrySoccerGuy) June 18, 2025 I could win MLS with an average 2. Bundesliga team. Not because of the talent level but because of the tactical schooling players receive in the first two divisions in Germany. Just look at St. Louis, they do a ton of basic things right and decoded this league in no time. https://t.co/gStkVqeILB— ronan (@nsc_ronan) June 19, 2025
Funny guy. St Louis started MLS with a nice five win streak and since then crickets. More like MLS decoded St Louis.
I'd be very surprised if B2 teams could physically keep up with MLS. The athletic profile here is just better and while the tactics over there are superior our are slowly catching up. That improves as coaching at all levels improve and there's still quite a ways to go at the youth coaching level.
It looks like this tweet was reference to a tweet from two years back. That's why it mentions to St Pauli who are now in BL1.
It was. St. Louis got off to a quick start over the first five games of MLS using a lot of foreign players and emphasizing a team concept over stars and some folks got on their high horse about how it was done with superior tactical knowledge. As if they weren't just doing Red Bull soccer in a league with a Red Bull team. St. Louis came a bit back down to earth at first, but finished with a good season record wise with terrible underlyings and got upset by Sporting KC in the first round of the playoffs somewhat predictably for a team who's underlyings said .500 at best. Since then, they've been subpar and the entire basic assumption was simply someone applying an assumption to way too small of a sample.
