Shakhtar as champions qualify to ECL - Group Phase

The Miners are once again are a Pot 2 team for the round robin groupings. They start the new 2012-13 season ranked #16 down two places from the end of last season.

Dynamo as runners-up qualify to ECL - 3rd Qualifying Round for Non-Champions

Dynamo in their usual spot of qualification again. However, the big difference this season is that Dynamo will be seeded!!! YPA! (Loden - Don't get too excited...)
If Dynamo do advance to the round robin Group stage they will be a Pot Team . (Wow!!!!)

The unseeded teams that Dynamo could face in the 3rd qualifying round are as follows:
    Code:
    Unseeded teams coef.
    ------------------------ --- -------
    Club Brugge Bel 35.480
    FC Vaslui Rom 13.764
    Feyenoord Ned 12.603
    Motherwell Sco 6.728

Dynamo should get through here and in the 4th qualifying round they list could be as follows:
    Code:
    Unseeded teams coef.
    ------------------------ --- -------
    Fenerbahçe *3 Tur 41.615
    Udinese Ita 38.996
    Lille OSC Fra 38.835
    Málaga CF Esp 16.837
    Borussia Mönchengladbach Ger 15.037

A little bit tuffer but not impossible to say the least compared to the previous last two season which has been Dynamo's exit to the UEFA Cup.

BTW Dynamo is ranked 31st in Europe at the start of the season, one spot lower than they finished last season.
Both YKPAIHIAH Teams need to advance and pickup valuable coefficient points this season to stay in contention in future seedings.

lol, Feynord is a very formidable opponent for this DK team with this coach. Especially, that it's likely that Sheva is done with DK.

The "#2" was missing from posting....

I'll be positive and give DK the credit of being the possible 8th team in Pot 2.

How is Dynamo seeded? If I recall correctly they were NOT seeded last year, and that's comming off a relatively deep Europa run. And now, after crashing out of Europa group stage they picked up the neccessary co-efficient points to be seeded? Am I missing something here? Who's processing and calculating the data? Hungarian goal line official!

Five years are being considered with earlier years dropping off. Dynamo's standing will surely suffer when that UEFA Cup semifinal run drops off. 2 things could have happened:

    1. Some teams ahead of Dynamo are either in LE or not qualified for Europe altogether
    2. Some teams ahead of Dynamo have had very good seasons dropped off.

    Europa League

Metalurh Donetsk as YKPAIHIAH Cup runner's up qualifying to the Europa League - 2nd qualifying round

Not surprisingly the team has enough coefficient points to be a seeded team for the 2nd qualifying round and the third qualifying round, so they should at least get to the play-off round. This unfortunately will be where they will draw a team that has a lot more European experience and give them a nice sending back to YKPAIHA.

    Known teams they could face:

    Code:
    Unseeded teams coef.
    ------------------------ --- -------
    Omonia Nicosia Cyp 9.099
    Dundee United Sco 6.228
    AC Horsens Den 5.505
and many others that need to qualfy into this round.

Arsenal Kyiv as the 5th placed team in the 2011-12 season qualifying to the Europa League - 3rd qualifying round

Arsenal Kyiv did well to qualify for Europe but since they have the misfortune of having little European experience they find themselves as a high unseeded team. If they luck out in the draw then they might advance to the next round but the prospect are very slim.

Known teams that they could face:

    Code:
    Seeded teams coef.
    ------------------------ --- -------
    Internazionale Ita 104.996
    Liverpool Eng 90.882
    Olympique Marseille Fra 85.835
    Athletic Bilbao Esp 47.837
    Hannover 96 Ger 31.037
    PAOK Thessaloniki Gre 27.920
    Steaua Bucuresti Rom 26.764
    Sparta Praha Cze 25.570
    Heerenveen Ned 20.103
    Racing Genk Bel 16.480
    Bursaspor Tur 13.310
    Maritimo Funchal Por 12.569
    Dinamo Moscow Rus 11.066

Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk as the 4th placed team in the 2011-12 season qualifying to the Europa League - playoff round

For the last few seasons Dnipro have been major underachievers and because of this their coefficient has suffered. However, due to the sequence of events which had teams qualify for the Europa Liha they accumulated just enough coefficient points to be the last seeded team for the playoff round. This should be something that the team should take advantage and secure a place in the Group stage of the competition. Lately their advantage as a seeded team has not helped them but this season could be a chance for a major contribution not only to their coefficient but also to YKPAIHAs. The are of course seeded as a Pot 4 team if they do in fact reach the Group stage.

Metalist XAPKIB as the 3rd placed team in the 2011-12 season qualifying to the Europa League - playoff round

Metalist have become regular Europa League group stage qualifiers. They have raised their position to 39th in Europe and are now considered as major conributor to YKPAIHA's total coeffcient. Probably they will end up being seeded as a Pot 2 team in the Group stage but they is a small chance they may even end up as a Pot 1 team. The exepcetation would be that they at least get to the last 16 stage.

Known teams that both Dnipro and Metalist could face:

    Code:
    Unseeded teams coef.
    ------------------------ --- -------
    Dinamo Bucuresti Rom 13.264
    Atromitos FC Gre 7.420
    Hearts FC Sco 7.228
    FC Midtjylland Den 6.505
    KSC Lokeren Bel 6.480
    FC Luzern Sui 6.360
as well as teams from the ECL 3rd quaifying round and other qualifiers.

Not me. I am excited (as I am every year). This year I have even more reason to be excited - Kranjcar, possibly Selin, Khacheridi looks better, Harmash looks ok. We'll see what that means.

Means, nothing in my opinion. The coach is not up to the task of getting them to qualify to the group stages.

For DK not to get out of the ECL 3rd qualifying round would be extremely disappointing.

This season DK should at least get in the Group stage of the ECL. An exit to the Europa League should always be on the cards as well.

Demyanenko got us there, Szabo got us there, Mykha got us there, CHABAN got us there. I think this roster should be able to get us there. We just need to drop all of the dead wood.

Just some more info on these possible opponents.

    FK Borac Banja Luka (BIH)
Currently ranked #290 with 3.066 coefficient points.
Last season they finished 3rd in Bosnian & Herzogovina league.

In Europe they were eliminated by Maccabi Haifa in the ECL 2nd qualifying round 7-4

In the 1988-89 season they were defeated by Metalist XAPKIB in the defunct Cup Winners' Cup
in the First round 4-2 when they were participating in the Yugoslavian League.

    FK Čelik Nikšić (MNE)
Currently ranked #405 with 1.025 coefficient points.
They qualified into the Europa League by winning the Montenegrin Cup.
They won the Second League championship and were promoted to the First League.
    No European experience at all.

Correction: They got you there during the old qualifying process when everyone was in the same pond. Now there is a champions and a non-champions route. Now you're actually playing decent teams in the last qualifying round. And the results show that considering you couldn't beat Ajax and Rubin.

Forget Ajax and Rubin, I still remember FC Thun. We actually played nice and positive football against Ajax, that wasn't our worst moment.

Rubin and Ajax are both quite beatable and Dynamo should have beat them. So, your point is?
