We're a third of the way through the season and, mostly because of some very soft schedules, there are still 21 teams that have yet to put an L on their ledger this season. We'll get to see two of them faceoff this weekend as Marshall travels to Georgia Southern. Who had that as a game of two unbeatens at the end of September? Here are the 21 teams still unbeaten with their current RPI, (lack-of) strength of schedule, record and whom they face next. 2. NC State, 51 SOS, 7-0-1, @ 97. Pittsburgh 3. SOS matters.
Duke beat Louisville, Maryland beat Northwestern, NC State tied Pittsburgh and Belmond drew Western Michigan to stay unbeaten. Michigan, however, fell to Michigan State for its first loss of the season. At least it wasn't Ohio State.

Drop UIC from the unbeaten ranks as the Flames lose a - pardon the pun - barnburner to Marquette, 5-4. UIC rallied to tie three times in a game that was 1-1 at halftime but saw seven goals between the 55th and 75th minutes. Belmont, Vermont and Duke get ties to stay unbeaten while South Florida adds another W. Here's the remaining teams with their updated RPI and SOS. 3. Bryant --- 10-0-1 --- 89 6. One thing that I think is making a difference in having more teams without a loss this season is the lack of OT. Obviously there were still ties with the old OT system but it's a lot easier to grind out or survive for 90 minutes than 110. Another thing that jumps out is how precarious some of these teams are for the NCAA Tournament despite not losing. If a school like Drake, Belmont, PFW or Lindenwood (are they eligible?) runs the regular season table but loses in the conference tournament, because of their weak SOS they will likely miss the NCAA Tournament with their RPI above 50.
Lindenwood is eligible. The NCAA truncated its provisional status at the start of this school year, making them and a few others tournament-eligible.
Remaining SOS (average winning percentage of remaining opponents) Bryant --- .5491 Portland --- .5105 High Point --- .4556 Vermont --- .5476 Duke --- .6382 Maryland --- .6251 Delaware --- .4809 Drake --- .4459 Kentucky --- .6605 South Florida --- .4571 Lindenwood --- .3796 Belmont --- .5884 Purdue-Fort Wayne --- .4600
High Point goes down. 2-0 loss at UNCG. One of the worst top 25 matchups featuring a “top five” program with a “legend” coach at the helm that I have ever seen. Fair play to the Spartans, took their chances in the first half and rarely gave HPU a sniff. However, a strong, healthy rivalry in the area.

Where does this "legend" stuff come from? Hes done a fantastic job, no doubt. But not too many coaching "legends" still doing it. Usually that title is reserved for someone who has been in a job and been successful for 20+ years
Current coaching "legends" in D-I men's soccer. Sasho Cirovski. That's it. There are some really GOOD, even great, coaches. But I wouldn't call any of them legends. Jerry Yeagley, Bruce Arena and Sigi Schmid are college soccer legends. Same with Bob Guelker, Steve Negoesco and Harry Keough. Sasho has won 3 Natties, produced enough pros to stock two teams and sent multiple players to World Cups for several different countries, all while being a huge advocate for the college game. Jeremy Gunn, Mike Noonan, George Gelnovatch - with 8 national titles between them - are great college coaches. But I wouldn't call them legendary.
Lindenwood stays unbeaten with a scoreless tie but it's against SIU-Edwardsville and drops their RPI about 20 places.
Updated. Lindenwood's tie sees it drop 23 spots. 2. Bryant --- 10-0-1 --- 75 4. Portland --- 8-0-2 --- 68 8. Vermont --- 8-0-4 --- 46 19. Duke --- 7-0-4 --- 69 21. Maryland --- 6-0-3 --- 101 46. The list continues to dwindle... Kentucky got whooped by Marshall so, like Kramer, they're out.
