Agbonlahor looks like he went of with a hamstring injury so that's good, Aston Villa now have West Ham next, then Hull at home and Bolton away. Can't see Villa catching Arsenal in 4th. Just can't see it happening now.

yeah it would take alot of losing and alot of winning for us not to be in the CL next year.....theres what 6 games left? 3 games on which we can almost certainly take 3 points from.

I could still see Villa taking max points from their remaining fixtures meaning we need at least 10 more points. Even if we win against Pompey, Stoke and Boro, we still need to take a point off of chelsea/manutd/liverpool - which will be really hard to do with our make shift defense.

a team that has not won since February is going to go out and win 7 straight matches

and our makeshift team has not lost to any of the other Big 4 clubs this year

    I enjoy your optimism tho

Newcastle, Boro, Hull, Bolton, West Ham and Fulham - not the most difficult task in the world. West Ham and Fulham will give them a game, but if Villa play the way they did the last 2 weeks they should beat both of them without much trouble.

I don't have much faith in the Fabianski-Silvestre-Gibbs trio that we will probably field against Liverpool, and even with Clichy coming back for Manutd and Chelsea - it's still going to be a tall order.

3-3 hhahahah....this is exactly what i wished for. I don't care if its 0-0, 1-1 or 4-4...as long as both of them drop points so can have some room to breath. We do have tough schedule coming up so I don't expect our team to get max points.

you are not telling the whole story tho...

Fulham away is going to be difficult, Fulham have shown they can beat anyone at Craven, Villa have not won at Fulham in years

Bolton away also is going to be hard

Boro and Newcastle are in relegation fights and are going to be playing out their skin in order to stay up

we can put money on this... I guarantee you they will not get maximum points in their last 6 matches...

tbh, you dont have much faith in the team period, so it wouldnt surprise me to see you post this...

As I recall I had faith in this team finishing 4th at a time when many people throught we were bust if we didn't buy.

If we were to gain 1 point against Liverpool I'd say we can relax a little, but until then things are no more secure than they were a month ago. It took a little over 2 weeks for an 8 point swing in our favor, the reverse is just as possible.

It's not surprising that I agree with you. However, we're 8 ahead and technically 9 because of our goal difference. Yes, we play the big three but that would mean that we lose 3 games in the next 7 while they win all of theirs. Tall order for them now. But, by no means impossible considering the fixture list and injuries.

If we were 9 points ahead I'd say the job is about done. 9 points ahead allows for a worst case scenario where we lose to all 3 top 3 teams and still go through, 8 is a little more awkward - but if we get through the pool game with a point we should get the 10 points required to get 4th regardless of how Villa perform.

I was gonna wait for Phishy to start the match thread but, but he must have other things going on at the moment.....so this seemed like the next best thing.
I wouldn't sweat it on the thread....Anti can just merge it when the time is right.
