This article, to me, says it all; it has Bush's foolish approach to foreign policy, his clear commitment to speechwriters (and the danger to us all when he abandons them), and, I think most importantly, the construction of our media today, which we do not think enough about: Iran 'Will Be Dealt With,' Bush Says Bid to Start at U.N., President Says By Mike Allen Washington Post Staff Writer Thursday, April 22, 2004; Page A06 President Bush told newspaper editors in Washington yesterday that Iran "will be dealt with, starting through the United Nations" if it does not stop developing nuclear weapons and begin total cooperation with international inspectors...He usually speaks from a text but aides said he wanted to speak yesterday without a script, using just a list of topics he wanted to cover... (1) This is an article from a "reporter" about the President hob-nobbing with the Beltway editors of OUR MEDIA. Does anyone, ANYONE, from any perspective, want the editors of our media hosting a dinner and speech session with anyone from our government? Who wants that? SPEAK! Who thinks that is healthy? I've just GOT to know... (2) To whom is Bush speaking when he talks this "will be dealt with" stuff? This cowboy, "Bring 'em on!" approach to foreign policy, in the end, gets more American boys and girls killed than one that speaks to and of Iranians as, well, I don't know, humans, and of their government as an entity that must be effectively engaged, now, to prevent bloodletting later. (3) I don't know who speaks for this man anymore. Today was SPECIAL b/c he chose to speak his own words? What, exactly, is the ********ing PERCENTAGE of words that come from Bush's mouth that are not in fact his own? ANYBODY??? Isn't that important? Shouldn't one of the prime considerations of selecting a national leader bethat s/he CAN write down their own words; they may choose to allow/vet other's writing for them, but is there ANYONE here, of sound mind and body, who can claim that this President CAN write an effective State of the Union, or Weekly Radio Address, or AP editors get-together, fun-time, shat on Iran speech? Remember, this is poetry to this..."man": Roses are red Violets are blue Oh my, lump in the bed How I've missed you... ...The distance, my dear, has been such a barrier Next time you want an adventure, just land on a carrier. THIS GOVERNMENT MUST EXPIRE. THIS "PRESIDENT" IS A JOKE. THIS CABAL IS KILLING MY COUNTRY. AQ OPERATES FREELY. IRAQ IS A KILLING FIELD. CHUMBAWAMBA'S "JACOB'S LADDER" MAKES OVERWHLEMING SENSE TO ME NOW...
Major media will not come straight out and state the obvious that we have a stupidface in charge. Well, at least not until they are 100% positive that said stupidface will not get re-elected and ruin their professional careers. They're reporting enough to let people make a judgement. We're deciding. Or ignoring.
