Ritchie hurt. His replacement scored the lone NUFC goal. I think they have Citeh in the cup next? Could see Yedlin - but Krafth sat too. A few passing reviews by the NUFC faithful were not impressed today. Even a few calls for DY.

If some rando fan has his way, yes... @NUFC I beg you bring on yedlin and jonjo. Atleast take off Carroll— louis greene (@louisgreene0) June 28, 2020 BTW they are down 1-0 at the half, but from all reports are being overrun.
Game's on ESPN+. City aren't even playing at half-speed and they're completely in control. Through 62 minutes, Newcastle have 24% of the possession, have completed 94 passes, and have 2 shot attempts, both from outside the box.
Carroll comes off in a double swap, last games scorer Gayle comes on. No DYI (Drew Yedlin In) yet. 64' Double change for the Magpies with Joelinton and Dwight Gayle replacing Andy Carroll and Miguel Almirón.[0-1] #NUFC | #NEWMCI— Newcastle United FC (@NUFC) June 28, 2020
I bought ESPN+ partly to watch NUFC/Yedlin, but I don't hate myself quite enough to watch this... Maybe if DY gets in. You're a better soccer fan than I.
74' Further changes for Newcastle. Allan Saint-Maximin and Danny Rose are replaced by Valentino Lazaro and DeAndre Yedlin.[0-2] #NUFC | #NEWMCI— Newcastle United FC (@NUFC) June 28, 2020 Newcastle have been much better in the second half in comparison to the first. However they gave up a second moments after Gayle sent a golden chance over the bar. This is a FA Cup quarterfinal, FYI.
My soccer watching deal is I have to do one entire half on the bike, eliptical or ski-erg - or some combo - if I want to watch. Sadly, soccer is back so I have to work out again...
Besides the hair, Yedlin did roughly nothing. He blocked a half-hearted shot and completed the only pass he attempted. Newcastle goes out of the FA Cup, and they have 7 league matches to go. 12 points clear of relegation, and anywhere from 5-10 points out of the European places, depending on the FA Cup winner and the result of City's European ban appeal.
2-0 City full time Newcastle were on the back foot during Yedlin's stint on the pitch. He blocked a Bernardo Silva shot in the box, tried to make a recovery run on after a turnover by Newcastle in their own third but was not able to catch up to Sterling though the keeper Darlow cut out the pass and was fouled. He was playing tucked inside and had to scramble out a few times as City were able to find an open man in space.
Not so much poor as average. He didn't get much of a chance to do anything. Manquillo has not exactly been aces lately either, so maybe Krafth or DY start getting more minutes.
And thus the mediocrity wheel goes round and round. (Newcastle is getting better results with Manquillo though. He's started every game since their loss at Palace, and today was their first loss in those 6 games.)
