YA tracks players that aren’t even USNT eligible, so a NT first mindset isn’t quite required here. But sure, even with a NT focus I’d root for Chelsea to do well without CP. Part of being an elite player is breaking into/maintaining a spot in an already great lineup.
No, but non Yanks sometimes get special attention, be it a word of encouragement for an Almiron or frequent criticism of a Mount. Especially when injuries prevent any meaningful opportunity to talk about the Yank that should have the focus.
Would you not keep an eye out for Almiron scoring droughts even if Yedlin left? Seems to be of interest to you.
my interest is the USMNT. Like others have mentioned, I follow MLS transfers as a way to benchmark minor vs. major leagues. A single player good or bad doesn’t drive anything as I’ve stated that success in the minors isn’t an indicator is the ability to step up. Conversely, there are players who have been able to very quickly establish themselves. Across sports, while both are important, I think that raw athleticism is more predictive than performance at lower levels. This is not a truism across the board but we see it across almost all sports. Almiron is an example where despite his dominating MLS performance, he’s been ok in the majors.
The Toon need to start picking up points. Southampton's resurgence is making me nervous. I think they'll need 38-40 points to be safe. I'd love to see a Miggy hat trick and three points today.
Yedlin gets the start in the FA Cup 4th round. Game starts at 10 eastern on ESPN+. TEAM-NEWS 🚨This is how we line-up for this afternoon's #EmiratesFACup tie at St. James' Park.A #NUFC debut for @nabilbentaleb42! 👊 pic.twitter.com/tHtPjoKOJe— Newcastle United FC (@NUFC) January 25, 2020
Yedlin goes 90 despite an injury scare. Had an "assist" on a called back goal (clearance deflected off him to a way OS Joey.) Ended 0-0.
The replay will be 2/4 on the road. In the highlights below, Yedlin wins a diagonal to start off the highlight video leading to a Newcastle chance. There are also a couple of runs Yedlin makes where the ball is not played to him though to be fair on one he looked off side and was decently marked on another. The best of these runs comes at 4:28. The "assist" @freisland mentioned is at 3:25

Yedlin delivers a super cross into the back-post and Joelinton connects with it, only to be denied by a great save from Krul. The ball rebounded for Almiron but he heads wide.[0-0] #NEWNOR | #NUFC— Newcastle United FC (@NUFC) February 1, 2020
It's pretty bad and one big reason why is illustrated by your comment. The fact that some you guys post nonsense over here sucks, but it's still light years better then the 8chan of US soccer.
meh, I’m not a Klinsmann fan and certainly Bruce S isn’t - I just think it’s funny how posters like you loved it when you could fireball Klinsmann but are now offended at criticism of a biased system. Glad to see yedlin is on the field - I read somewhere that he took an injury. Looks like he’s in competition with that new Austrian
