Naw that’s asking waaaaaay too much of a young player who has already established himself. This is his career, and it’s not to going to improve at all by sitting on the bench no matter how much he loves or dreams about Barça. It’s like being offered admission to Harvard but they make you go to Harvard extension or have some other little annoying conditions because there isn’t any room atm...screw that, if you got into Harvard, you could probably get in any equally reputable school and you can go there and develop your skills in your field without those annoying conditions. The career opportunity for De Ligt is just much better at Juventus atm. It’s only a lose lose situation if we signed him for all that money and he couldn’t beat out any of Umtiti, Pique, or Lenglet; this board’s cynics would just relentlessly call him DeShigt or something. In 2 or 3 years, assuming he keeps doing what he’s doing and we still have decent chances in the CL he can be had and you won’t have to be so disappointed.
Question is, how much will Barca have to pay In a few years time to get him. I doubt Juve will let him go on a Bowman.
Probably 150 million lol. The market is so ********ed up right now, but I’m optimistic that our future president(either Victor Font or Laporta) could get him cheaper.
Lol mate what a ri-di-cu-lous post. So you despise a 19 year old kid who has never said or done anything bad to your club more than Figo. Because he was able to go to any team in the world and made the choice to go to another club that offered him more guarantees at playing time... As FSF already said there is no written rule that dictates that every Ajax player must go to Barcelona. You act as if he wronged your club. He didn’t wrong anyone, he just made another choice. I understand you’re bummed, every fan dislikes it when their team misses out on good players. But come on. Truth be told if he developes well there’s still a significant chance that in 3-5 years he will join your club. At the ripe age of 22-24, with some added Italian skills.
Truth to be told, I hope he’s worth the price if we’re gonna sign him in the near future. Anyways I got those vibe that he’s Real Madrid fan. Maybe he does despise Barca
Good play on words (turn the light off), and frankly this club needs more potential bargains. Not having signed De Ligt we clearly keep Todibo as 4th CB instead of loaning him out, and we also clearly need to learn to play both left footed French CBs at the same time (not that we don't want to give Todibo minutes, but we literally have 3 very good, very proven CBs, and cannot stick to only playing a left foot dominant one with a right foot dominant one). That's what preseason and practice is for. With any luck Todibo will be worth more than De Ligt (that's a long shot, but we are talking about two 19 y.o.s and anything can happen).
Todibo will never be as good as De Ligt. De Ligt seems to be like Maldini or Baresi type of GOAT level player. We missed on him cuz our board signed a garbage overrated L merchant like Greizmann. Imagine if we had someone like Flo Perez to get shit done.
I am just tired of Riola. He's kicking up a fuss about Xavi Simmons now as he wants him to get paid more than his peers but Barca pay everyone on that level the same money. I am already sick of Xavi Simmons before even seeing him play. Keep Riola out of this club as much as possible ffs.
De Ligt went to Juve because they offered the most money to his agent, in 3 years time his agent will angle for a big money move to LPB / Barca /PSG / Man City because it will be another massive pay day for him. It's the way football works, it's about money and nothing else matters, nothing.
You guys are missing the thread here. de Ligt had a transfer fee of €75M and every team including Juve were lowballing Ajax. In the end, the Italian team was the only one who paid the the asking price. Had Barca come in with that amount a month ago, you would have had de Ligt. The Raiola shenanigans were always a side show.
How do you know that for certain ? If is then it’s a disgrace ! Him and FDJ work so amazingly well together .
It's been in the Dutch papers. Overmars had agreements with both de Ligt and Ziyech so that they would stay with the club last season. Originally the transfer fee was set for €50M but then raised to €75M because of de Ligt's performance during the season when they got to the CL semis. Juve originally offered €60 which was refused by Ajax and it took about three weeks before they finally decided to meet the Ajax price. PSG were only prepared to pay €65M and I'm not sure what Barca offered but suspect it was in the low €60Ms range. Dutch contracts do not have buy out values as does the Spanish league so clubs are free to set what they think the proper value is. the only disgrace is that Barca did not meet the sales price.
That’s fair . But asking prices don’t have to be met by bidding team. So no disgrace there . And De Ligt has to agree going to highest bidder . Which is his choice . Sometimes you can push for your team to take a lower bid if you have a club preference .
It was around 55 million. I commented on that offer in the Dutch forum that Barca wanted to buy de Ligt and make Ajax pay for his salary the first few years by offering about 20 million below what Ajax wanted. It was probably based on the assumption that de Ligt was so very much wanting to go to Barca they could twist Ajax arms into it. It was utterly contempt behaviour.
We’re a joke when it comes to buying players. LOL we were ready to overpay for average players like Dembele,Greizmann and Coutinho. It had nothing to do with more chances in the first place had we signed De Ligt for 75 million. We lost the chance signing a future GOAT tier defender like Maldini.
When you consider that Lukaku's price is close to €70mn, it does make 75me seem like a pretty good deal for De Ligt, and a missed opportunity .
The problem in the end could have been the net wage for de Ligt. To pay him the same netto like at Juve, the gross wage has to be much higher due to the low tax rate Italy has for international footballers. It would probably mess up the whole wage structure at Barca.
Fair point, but there must have been a way around that. E.g. pay relatively modest wages for the first 2-3 years and big money after that. Give him security, like sign him to an 8 year deal or something. Players and their families like that.
Greizmann wasn’t even needed. We could’ve signed Timo Werner for a number 9 and if Neymar is gonna join us then the Frenchy shouldn’t have been signed. Bartomeu and his garbage negotiation skills.
I’d have preferred to send Coutinho and Suarez back to Liverpool to persuade them to let us have Firmino .. He’d be perfect for us .
