This is a nice calleup from the USSF DA. Nationality listed as United States on his USSF page. http://bwgt.ussoccerda.com/sam/teams/index.php?team=1647671&player=66117811 Bryan Celis called into Chile U17 National TeamCongratulations and good luck to U16 Academy player Bryan Celis... https://t.co/sPKYv6OqVn— Blau Weiss Gottschee (@BWGSoccer) November 3, 2016
I think the toughest youth call-ups to make stick have to be the ones going to CONMEBOL teams. You would really have to stand out to get repeated call-ups considering the cost to bring in an outside player.
Oddly, or not, there was another Bryan Celis in the YNT setup roughly a decade ago. He was a Texan who played college ball and maybe more, though I don't know those details offhand.
There was also a Bryan Celis of the Houston Dynamo academy that got some time with our US U17s a little while ago. Couldn't tell you anything about him other than that.
Sidney Friede played 45 minutes for Germany U-19's in a friendly against Czech Republic during the last international week. He's a '98 CM, in case anyone forgot. Tab Ramos should try to get him to play for the USA. He's not provisionally cap-tied to either country. Call him into a U-20 roster.
Mexico u-16 call ups Julian Hinojosa FC Dallas Academy Ulysses Llanez LA Galaxy Academy Salvador Pliego TSF Academy https://goo.gl/cMEymD
Yes, he's been a consistent member of the U16s. First Alvarez, now Llanez, two LAG players getting called up to FMF teams.
Pliego, on the other hand, is from Newark (and a past USYNT pool player): http://www.ussoccer.com/stories/2015/08/17/18/34/150817-u14bnt-gathers-for-ntc-camp

Four talents of FC Bayern with the German U18 national team were able to cheer a tournament victory to the end of the season. Ronald Thorben Hoffmann, Adrian Fein, Timothy Tillman, and Manuel Wintzheimer took part in the winter tournament in Israel with the DFB selection of coach Meikel Schönweitz. A clear 4-0 win against the host was achieved on Tuesday. Tillman was on the pitch for 77 minutes, while Fein and Wintzheimer were substituted in the 70th minute. Hoffmann was not used. https://fcbayern.com/de/news/2016/12/junior-team-kompakt-151216?shortURL=jtKompakt151216 (in German)

Collin Fernández (1997) ya debería haber vuelto a EE.UU. Los trámites de su nacionalización se iniciaron muy tarde. No irá a Ecuador.— Víctor Zaferson M (@VZaferson) December 31, 2016 Collin Fernandez was very close to going to the CONMEBOL u20 championship but the FPF messed up the window to confirm his Peruvian nationality.
3 US based players in the most recent Jamaica U17 camp: http://www.concacaf.com/article/jam...ce=twitter&utm_campaign=CONCACAF&sf49744828=1 Matthew Levy (Miramar United/USA) Chad Letts (Philadelphia Union/USA) Joel Nicholson (Parkland SC/USA) Letts is a confirmed US citizen. I couldn't find anything on the other two.
On the Akron profile for U.S. U20 Jonathan Lewis, I noticed that: PRIOR TO AKRON: Played for Chicago Fire Academy, Plantation FC and Kendall SC...scored 20 goals in 22 academy games playing for Kendall SC...selected to the US U-20 national team camp...earned an invitation to the Jamaican National Team camp. http://www.gozips.com/sports/msoc/2016-17/bios/lewis_jonathan_r3jz This was definitely prior to Akron, as the same thing was mentioned on the Zips' recruiting announcement.
He was invited in the first half of 2016 as part of a recruiting effort designed to build up a squad for the CFU Under 20 qualifiers that were held during the summer - a good number of Jamaican-Americans attended camps throughout the early part of the year. Here's a short article describing one of the camps held in February; Lewis was among 4 Americans invited. http://rjrnewsonline.com/sports/under-20-reggae-boyz-train-for-cfu-qualifiers The U-20 team was eliminated in the summer during the semi-final Caribbean round (failing to escape a group including Dominica, St. Kitts, and the Dominican Republic) and Lewis was never called up. Word now is that he's back on the US Under-20 radar (he had apparently had a little USYNT attention before).
Did he end up attending any Jamaican U-20 camps? The US coach is a little unpredictable, so its hard to know for sure, but I don't believe he will be good enough to make the US team for qualifying. Might be a fringe player.
I believe he's been to a couple. The camp in February was one, it's described in the article I linked. Several more were held and I'm betting he made at least one of those too. Paperwork could've been what kept him out of the final squad. I heard the bit about US U-20 interest via online rumors and a couple mentions in articles, so take it with a grain of salt I suppose. Just chatter from the grapevine. I'd love for him to commit to Jamaica right now but if he's improved his stock enough to be even a fringe USYNT player I wouldn't be surprised if he held himself out for a bit to see where things go.
I wouldn't be shocked to see Lewis on the qualifying roster. He's a late addition to the pool who's been consistently called in since. Of course, there are presumably a lot of moving parts for a 18-field-player roster but among the domestic options my guess is he's very much in the mix.
