I'm not so sure about that. The large majority of Mexican-Americans heading south are doing so before they turn 19, which means they won't count as foreigners. To add to @Clint Eastwood's list, Querétaro is another club from a regional city that has a growing contingent of Americans in their academy.
A dual national needs to be registered with the FMF before they are 18 to count as Mexican. USSF has started blocking minors from going to Mexico. So, except for Tijuana, the pipeline is no more.
We haven't heard anything official about the USSF (or FIFA for that matter) blocking dual citizens from going to Mexico... just 2nd hand reports from clubs and a level of concern that it will be happening. We do know that dual citizens have until they turn 19 to register, so they have clear year to join a club in Mexico. "Players with dual Mexican-American nationality will be considered as one of the eight [Mexican] players if when they first register with the FMF [Mexican federation] they haven't reached 19 years," read the statement. http://www.espnfc.us/mexican-liga-m...layer-limit-on-foreigners-naturalized-players
LOL Mexican journalism, the official LMX statement says under 19 and three different Mexican outlets reported under 18. I stand corrected but I was set up I tell you!
I posted this in his YA thread earlier, but American-born '00 Kik Pierie has been provisionally cap-tied to the Netherlands by playing in a Euro qualifying match for Oranje U-17. It doesn't change much because the Netherlands was always his top choice and he could still theoretically file a one-time switch to the US.
Despite some conflicting reports, can confirm U.S. U20 Emmanuel Sabbi has never been contacted and has no interest in playing for Ghana.— Will Parchman (@WillParchman) October 3, 2016
Does this mean he was never contacted by the Ghana soccer website either? I mean it's possible they're doing something like that article about Gyasi. He was supposedly had a Ghanaian grandpa but then I read later he had a Brazilian grandpa. I guess you never really know.
Former US YNTer and current Mexico YNTer Edwin Lara was named by The Guardian as one of 60 of the best talents in the world born in 1999, along with Nick Taitague. Until he makes a competitive senior debut, Lara is still eligible for a one-time switch back to the US. https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...0-of-the-best-young-talents-in-world-football
[Collin] Fernandez, a second year Homegrown midfielder, will join the Peruvian Under-20 Men’s National Team for a training camp in Lima, Peru from Sept. 30 through Oct. 13 in preparation for the XXVIII Campeonato Sudamericano Sub-20 scheduled for January 2017 in Ecuador. http://www.chicago-fire.com/post/2016/09/28/two-chicago-fire-players-receive-international-call-ups
For me the biggest disappointment of the MLS season. Based on pre-season performance, comments from Paunovic, and the the dumping of Shipp, we thought Collin was going to get significant minutes. He's played a total of 8 minutes this year and 14 minutes in two seasons. I guess he wasn't going to get a shot with USYNTs, so this continues to be a good opportunity for him.
Yeah, but it's tough to get minutes on such a successful team that is playing for so much down the stretch.

T&T's U20s played a warm-up match in Panama prior to the CFUs: Trinidad and Tobago’s National Men’s Under 20 Team closed off its three-match training camp in Panama with a 3-1 victory over local club San Francisco FC at the Estadio Agustin Sanchez in La Chorrera on Monday evening.
