But if the Bosnian is Ibisevic, then iirc, he wasn't really raised in the US, just a non-citizen who spent a few years here. And if the Mexican-American is Ponce, then my understanding is that he was raised in TJ.

    Here's the original tweet:

He uses "born or raised" so that covers Ponce or the other Mexican-Americans. Ibisevic is a bit of a stretch, but it still is an interesting point.

    A Bright Dike/Nigeria analysis:

Shola Ameobi showed why the coach has so much faith in him after his impressive performance in the first half-setting up Bright Dike for the equalizer and notching a goal to put Nigeria in the driving seat.

Dike scored on his second start for Nigeria and certainly didn’t fluff his lines in his ongoing audition for a place in the national team. The American-born striker has proven to have both an eye for goal and prowess in building up play.

Keshi's conundrum will be whether to stick with the misfiring Ideye or give the relatively inexperienced Dike a chance.

    Snip:

When Queiroz took over as coach, he arrived to find a national federation that was “lethargic, lacking ambition.”

But he tried to make changes, bringing in Iranian players with dual nationality like Daniel Davari of Germany’s Eintracht Braunschweig, Fulham midfielder Ashkan Dejagah, Dutch-Iranian striker Reza Ghoochannejhad and, most recently, American-born right-back Steven Beitashour of San Jose Earthquakes.

However, his efforts were met with scepticism.

“In a conservative society like Iran, it is not easy to talk about reform and change of habits. We cannot be competitive without international experience. But my commitment to Iranians is to make them happy. This is our World Cup, this is our time to tell the world that Iran is a football country,” Queiroz added.

Iran has used duel nationals before though. They went all out for Zandi, who was a German youth international, and he did not even speak Farsi.

Iran has become more aggressive about recruiting dual nats under Queiroz. Latest target is supposedly an attacking mid in the J-League.

According to another BS thread, Tom Dooley has called a couple of US-based players to a pair of friendlies in March.

OJ (Jose Elmer) Porteria, who has 12 caps for the Philippines already & is with Kaya FC.
Kenshiro Daniels, who finished high school at Riverside La Sierra in California and is now with Kaya FC in the Philippines. His dad is actor/kickboxer Gary Daniels. Can't confirm citizenship (dad is English & mom is Filipina).
Charles Pettys is American-born and plays for Global FC in the Philippines.

Anton del Rosario (Kaya) is also an American.

Regarding Kenshiro's citizenship, he says he is "originally from Irvine" and didn't have a Filipino passport until September of last year. I suppose it is possible he was born in England, but it doesn't seem likely.

I stand corrected... the roster linked above was the training camp roster.

Here are the dual Yank players rostered for one or both Philippine friendlies:

    Nate Burkey (Malaysia)
    Kenshiro Daniels (both)
    OJ Porteria (both)
    Anton del Rosario (both)

Guam national coaches are coordinating the 2014 Guam National Team Identification Camp, which will be held the weekend of March 21 in California. It will be a three-day camp for prospects for the women's team (Masakåda) and one day camps for those eligible to play for Guam's men's team (Matao) and various youth national teams.
