That's the kind of vividness bias kind of moment that can get you a ridiculous, unwarranted transfer lol. WOW!!! Beyond WOW, kinda funny it's almost exactly a year after Sargent's scorpion goal too. Two kind of, WTF?!?!?! moments in lost seasons.
De la Torre and Celta get the three points to move up to 11th. De la Torre is on his 3rd start in a row. Celta have 2 Ws and 1 L in that time. Not really a lost season. For now, he seems more effective playing on the outside.
While it may not show up in the event stats, Scally was immense in getting a point from bottom of the table Schalke in today's match. He made several timely interventions on back post crosses that helped keep the Royal Blues scoreless. I love USMNT players playing well but please do it again clubs not named Schalke, please.
Scally is improving. Today was the day to get him the ball more than they usually do but it didn't happen enough.
It’s sort of unfortunate that LDLT was hurt going into the World Cup and Booth’s breakout came just a bit too late. Both would have played minutes in Qatar otherwise.
Reynolds needs to get another look, even if it's as third RB behind Dest/Scally... I don't think you can make a statement like that with any confidence unless you're inside the genius mind of Gregg Berhalter, maybe "both SHOULD have played minutes in Qatar otherwise"...
Rangers need to face Utrecht so we can get Tillman vs Booth chants in the same stadium... 🗣️ 𝐓𝐚𝐲𝐥𝐨𝐫, 𝐓𝐚𝐲𝐥𝐨𝐫 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐨𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐡! #fcutrecht #vanuithethart #utrhee pic.twitter.com/u3AtGQVAoE— FC Utrecht (@fcutrecht) February 4, 2023
LDLT went into the World Cup hurt and Berhalter had previously played him substantial minutes before. He started the key qualifier against Panama in the last qualifying window. I think the fact he didn’t play at all in the World Cup seems to indicate he just wasn’t fit. Booth on the other hand didn’t start surging until after the September window. It would have been hard to justify his inclusion having never been with the team. And it would have been hard to make the case he should have been called earlier.
And if only Gio was about 2 months earlier in his recovery timeline, and he and his parents weren't busy throwing tantrums... (Even with all of that, beating Holland was going to be a big ask. But beating Wales probably wouldn't have been.)
Why aren't the Reyna parents throwing tantrums over Gio being used as a substitute by Dortmund? "If only our mediocre nepotism potato had the man management skills of a competent coach like Terzic" -Gregg told Reyna before the WC that he would play a limited role, he sulked and was a problem and the subsequent drama has been a complete clusterf**k for US Soccer. -Terzic said he's using Reyna as a super sub because he's not 100% yet, and he's looked happy while scoring 3 goals in 68 minutes while Dortmund keeps winning games.
🚨 USMNT international Taylor Booth with Utrecht today ☑️ 85 min🔑 3 chances created 🔥 2 successful dribbles 🎯 4 accurate crosses❌ 4 recoveries ⚔️ 5 duels won✅ 7.3 fotmob rating Very lively in a big win. 🔥 pic.twitter.com/C3BrBbjdxL— Takes 🇺🇸 (@USMNTTAKES) February 4, 2023
If Berhalter hadn't started Reyna against both Japan and Saudi, he likely would have been fit for the Cup. But really, let's move on.
Pretty sure Weah's injury is what created that scenario, add in Musah suddenly unavailable and then it was probably hard to keep Reyna on the bench.
Booth was named as Player of the Month before WC. He is too creative to fit in GGG’s position rigid system. Too much free flowing and interchangeable. He would love to work with Dest through.
Yes he was the player of the month for October. The last camp was in September so to call him up for the World Cup would have required him to call someone when he hadn’t been with the team. And when the September camp rolled around Booth was yet to have his surge.
Actually, he was named player of the month for the partial month of November, not October. It was actually released after the World Cup started. He did have a couple of good games in October. https://eredivisie.eu/news/taylor-booth-named-as-eredivisie-player-of-the-month-for-november/

Are you kidding… Se lesionó Alejandro Zendejas. 😱 El futbolista del América sintió un tirón y se vio obligado a abandonar la cancha. 🗣️ @SirJohnLaguna @marianot19 @emperadorsuarez @daniella_lg #FOXLigaMX pic.twitter.com/dkVtQMAjpi— FOX Deportes (@FOXDeportes) February 5, 2023 Alejandro Zendejas was injured. The América footballer felt a jerk and was forced to leave the pitch. 🚨 Alejandro Zendejas was wheeled off in Americas game against Santos Laguna in Liga MX after he fell and grabbed his hamstring in what looked to be a serious injury. He was having the form of his life. Prayers for him and hoping it’s nothing serious 🙏🏼#alejandrozendejas pic.twitter.com/zSg4Q1NZ8G— US Soccer Plus (@ussoccerplus_) February 5, 2023 Zendejas was having the form of his life and this happens. Just sad 🥺 Hope it’s not too serious and that he won’t be out for too long 🙏 pic.twitter.com/cUJxVGVL1n— 🇺🇸 USMNT vs Haters (@USMNTvsHaters) February 5, 2023
Don't think it got mentioned that Zach and Ethan both had clean sheets in wins yesterday - probably because we just expect it at this point Luton and Middlesborough are tied for 3rd on the table (Luton with a game in hand), which is pretty awesome. So happy for these two guys. If this trend continues (insert disco stu) the promotion playoffs are going to must watch viewing for YA fans. Dike's WBA are also currently clinging to the 6th and final playoff spot, and Sargent's Norritch are 2 points out.
