Pepi has his first look on goal, and the Brest keeper makes another AMAZING save to preserve their lead.
PSV's final chance fell to Chucky in the box, who spotted Pepi open in the middle and... absolutely skied the cross in row ZZ. Brest wins, and likely... secures a spot in the knockouts? Wild edition of the Champions League, seriously.
Agreed! I was setting myself up to hate it, but aside from the increased number of matches (which is just unsustainable for the players), I've really enjoyed the chaos a single tables creates!
I was really pleased with Tillman up until the goal as he was showing a lot more defensive hustle than normal which will be needed for the USMNT. Bu then he just completely let the guy he was marking and whom he had been in front of, run in front of him for the assist on the goal. He just stopped and gave up for a moment and that was enough.
Pulisic out, Musah (almost certainly) in ... The predicted starting line-ups ... Christian Pulisic and Noah Okafor join Alessandro Florenzi, Ismael Bennacer and Luka Jovic as unavailable players, depleting the attack a bit. .... It should be Youssouf Fofana and Tijjani Reijnders in the double pivot, with Yunus Musah on the right, Rafael Leao on the left and Ruben Loftus-Cheek behind Alvaro Morata. Predicted Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Thiaw, Gabbia, Theo; Fofana, Reijnders; Musah, Loftus-Cheek, Leao; Morata.
For folks who follow YA's who are no-longer USMNT eligible, Johnathan David is starting for Lille vs Sturm Graz
After jumping to a 2-0 lead, Lille has allowed Strum Graz to equalize early in the 2nd half. This looked like one Lille would run away with, but it's become really entertaining in the 2nd half.
Rosters comping out for the late slate of games - REYNA STARTS Musah also starts Ryerson starts McKennie, Weah, Chase and Campbell on benches Pulisic and Balogun injured
VAR checking to see if David drew a penalty that he would probably take for the go-ahead goal ... ruled no clear and obvious error, apparently. It was at least arguable.
David assist to Haraldsson for the go-ahead goal. Takes advantage of some misplaced defenders that left two attackers open at the top of the box (though one was offside). David's pass was behind Haraldsson, but the Icelander adjusts and gets off an excellent shot.
GODDAMNIT I get up to have one brief conversation with my wife and I come back to everyone celebrating with Weston
Abraham finishes off a loose ball after a spectacular save for 2-1 Milan. Gotta get Puli and Musah into the later rounds.
Lineups are in for today's early European matches. Johnny STARTS at Petrocub - great to see him back! Maloney STARTS at Istanbul Basaksehir - with the personnel, there's a chance he's playing CB, but may also be in his normal spot. Bello STARTS against Amir Richardson (who starts) at Fiorentina. LASK still winless. Delaney STARTS vs Hearts. Paramount+ showing all of the above.
Thanks for covering these @Casper, it's appreciated. I've decided Petrocub must be a gas station in a supermarket parking lot, and will not be persuaded otherwise.
