The article notes that any party involved can appeal, and that the EFL considers the outcome of an appeal to be final as they don't allow further appeals to the Court for Arbitration of Sport. The opinion after the article seems to think that whoever loses on the initial decision will appeal it (seems reasonable enough), so the EFL (says it) has contingencies if the final needs to be delayed to finish the appeal. I have no idea how quickly an appeal could happen.
That's the first available weekend date, and there's kind of a World Cup that starts a few days after, which may involve one or more players from the teams involved. They could play on a weekday presumably (the League 2 final is on the Monday after the Championship final is supposed to be).
The League Two final is on the Monday, kickoff 3 pm, which is a National Holiday. I'm off Notts County tomorrow to watch the semi-final second leg.
Can BS send Paul Berry an emotional support beer? Hes gonna be a nervous wreck until the final is over. If Notts defense plays like that at Wembley, theyll be fine.
Dike departing West Brom: Daryl Dike will depart West Bromwich Albion this month, ending a four-year stay with the club. Injuries plagued his time abroad, limiting him to only 11 goals in 68 appearances since January 2022. #USMNT https://t.co/Fx9zjYxAt1— Larry Henry Jr (@lhenry019) May 15, 2026
What made it worse was that the fourth official took over from the ref who pulled a hammy and there was no notification of how much added time. I'll be headed to Wembley for the first time in 30 years.
Gift link to a tremendous, tremendous article/interview with Austin Trusty. Don’t miss the part about the USMNT use of flow-state analysis kits. It’s amazing how advanced sports medicine and training is today. That thing sounds like sci fi. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/72...hared_gift_article_copylink&smid=url-share-ta The only thing missing, for American fans, is there’s almost no discussion of Wilfred Nancy’s time in charge.
Celtic versus Hearts to decide the SPL title. Trusty gets the start. Currently 1-1 in the 2nd half. Tie would be good enough for Hearts. As a USMNT fan, I support Trusty. As a neutral, I'd love to see Hearts do it!
Celtic has gone into "kitchen sink" mode and taken Trusty off for an attacker in the 73rd minute. They need a goal.
Feels like a matter of when for Celtic now with these golden chances they're producing every minute. Very much rooting for Hearts myself, Trusty will have plenty of other chances with Celtic if he stays, this is about history.
Gladbach 2 Hoffenheim 0 deep into the 2nd half. Scally started and Reyna on at minute 67 for Gladbach. Cole Campbell on the bench for Hoffenheim, but not on the field yet. They got a red card right at the start of the 2nd half, so...................... Paredes is also on the bench for Wolfsburg today. Not into the game so far.
Reyna has actually gotten some fairly decent minutes lately. It sure looked like the lack would really hurt his WC chances but he's getting them at the exact time he needs them.
On the other hand, Reyna now finishes the season with 5 starts across all competitions. This is his 3rd season in a row with no more than 5 starts across all competitions. And it's his 5th season in a row with no more than 7 starts across all competitions. My guess is no American player has ever gone that long without regular starting minutes and still ended up on a World Cup roster. The only player I can think of who comes close is JOB, who also went 3 seasons with minimal starts leading up to the 2006 World Cup. Reyna's in a better position in that he's at least getting sub minutes (while JOB was mostly just out injured during that period), but JOB at least had one season at the beginning of that same cycle where he managed 19-20 starts across all competitions for Ajax, whereas you have to go back midway through the '22 cycle to find a season like that for Reyna.
JOB is a good comparison because of somewhat similar skills and a lack of lots of others with those skills giving each a compelling reason to be chosen.
The chance that we end up getting '02 JOB means we should take him. The fact that there are 26 slots available means that if we end up with '06 JOB, it's not as big of a deal.
Not typically a conspiracy theorist, but anyone who saw the “handball” penalty in the last match that Celtic was awarded based on VAR would be hard pressed not to think that there was a finger on the scale. Should have been Hearts, not Celtic.
Well, Lund and Cologne had an absolutely diabolical second half of the season. Thankfully their first half was strong enough to survive. They know they have to be busy this offseason now that they survived. For Lund.........Cologne permanent transfer I think is the preferred move.........but if Palermo manage to go up in playoffs, that calculus gets interesting.
PSV close out their dominating season with a 5-1 win. Dest picked up a yellow but most importantly played the whole 90, Pepi also went the 90, scoring the 5th goal via a penalty George Bello and LASK are Austrian Bundesliga Champions for the first time in over 60 years
3 premier league games at the half. Fulham 1 Wolves 1 Antonee Robinson with the penalty goal! Leeds 0 Brighton 0 Aaronson starting for Leeds. Not much happening in this game. Leeds had zero shots on goal in the 1st half. Brenden is going to have 2800 minutes this season. Crystal Palace 1 Brentford 1 Chris Richards on the bench! Actually given a day off!! [Something else to watch in the Premier League. With LIverpool in a swoon, Bournemouth and Tyler Adams still have a shot at 5th! They have to beat Man City on Tuesday, but its still possible.]
