Completing 40 more passes than the 2nd highest, Morris went full Xavi in Bro's 1-0 loss to Charlton. The opposing keeper made 7 saves against an xG of 1.81. Bro are now only 1 point clear for the automatic promotion. 0.43 xA 2 key passes 131/139 passing 108/114 passing in the opp half 5/6 long balls 10 recoveries 5/9 grnd duels fouls/fouled 1/3 Ss(8.9)MOTM
Bros are killing it and are only one point clear. Ipswich I get but Millwall??? Somebody explaiin that to me
Consistency. They've finished in the top half of the Championship in the last 6 seasons with 68, 62, 69, 68, 59 and 66 points. Hull City is way more freakish. They avoided relegation last season by 1 goal.
Unfortunately not much of Tessmann in the Europa match. Came on at 85 against 10 man Celta Vigo and played CB.
Cremaschi starting again for Parma vs Torino. Was thinking we were going to have a German yank off today but just heard the crappy news about Sands requiring another long term surgery. Scally starts Gio bench in the BMG v St Pauli matchup which is a big game for both sides.
Sad to hear about Sands. It was the same ankle. Tbh, I'd been pleasantly surprised at his initial speedy and full recovery from a pretty complex fracture.
Freeman on the bench for Villarreal's match against Alaves. Reyna is on the bench; at least we know he is healthy.
Scally(RWB in 3421) got the assist and the big win over St. Pauli to move to 12th. Reyna got dnp'd . 1 assist 1 key pass 23/31 passing 2/4 dribbles 4/6 ground duels 0/0 fouls/fouled WS(7.6)3rd
One thing I think is worth highlighting: Tim Weah has finally found a club where he looks to be a regular starter. Which was never really the case before, partly because of how ambitious he's been with his club selection (and possibly, in part, due to injuries earlier in his career). He has now started more games and played more minutes this season (both in league play and across all competitions) than he ever has in any season prior. Specifically, he has now started 21 out of 26 league games for Marseille, he has 31 starts in all competitions, and he's managed 1,763 league minutes, all career bests for him and all with a couple months still left to play. In his previous 8 years as a professional, Weah had never had a single season where he started even half his club's league games over a full year. (I'm pretty sure he's the only player on the 2022 World Cup roster you could say that about, though obviously a number of guys on that squad played at lower levels.)
Yeah, its good to have guys in "perfect" situations where it makes no sense to rattle any cages. Id say Pulisic, Weah, McKennie, and prooobaby Scally fall into those categories. There's nothing wrong with looking for greener pastures for the most part, but I wouldnt rattle any cages for any of those four.
That was a HUGE win for Gladbach. Put some distance between themselves and the relegation zone. With the Dest injury, Scally is firmly in the picture for March. Joe also had a good camp in November. Not good for Reyna. What a conundrum he is........................................
Freeman did play in that game against Alaves. He really hadn't played many minutes since November camp. Good to see him out there even if for only 10 minutes. Lost opportunity for Villarreal. 1-1 draw against one of the weakest teams in the league. That point did temnporarily take them 1 point above Johnny & Atletico into 3rd. Maybe it doesn't matter too much. They look solidly in the top 4 Champions League spots if they keep picking up points. Good gap between Villarreal and 5th placed Betis.
Alexander Smith on X: "Tyler Adams felt something in training yesterday and they decided not to risk him today - sounds purely precautionary and nothing major. #afcb" / X
2 USMNT eligible players with the start for Leverkusen as they take on FC Hollywood, Malik at AM and Montrell at RWB. Both look very bright.
Nice that Bournemouth feel that they have that luxury at least. Its against Burnley and they look like basically nothing to play for but mid table. I like the idea of keeping their asset healthy with a transfer window looming And after Sands and Cremaschi this weekend........I appreciate the taking not chances Bad news down below, ever consistent Milwall just hopped Middlesbrough in the tables. Coventry also lost
If ESPN's match tracker is to be believed, George Campbell has had a few games playing left center back. Started there again today.
Bournemouth have a better record this season when Adams doesn't play. On a goals +/- amongst players with more than 40 EPL minutes he's the worst player on the team. It's great that the manager likes him but he's not remotely some vital player for them.
well, if we all pretended balos save percentage, or richards' xg were at all indicative of their worth/value to their clubs theyd seem pretty un-vital too, huh?
Hugs and Downs starting against each other in a more overlooked yank off, currently 1-1 half time. Venezia play away to Sampdoria later. Monza beat Palermo in a 6 pointer pretty convincingly looking at the scoreline. Frosinone only got one point in todays match.
