I saw earlier in the week that Adeyemi and Brandt would be returning to full fitness (after Dortmund already got Reyna and Duranville back from injury a couple weeks ago), so I figured Campbell might be returning to the reserves. But it doesn't look like Adeyemi or Brandt made it onto the roster today, so I'm not sure who Campbell lost his spot to. But either way, it's probably not going get any easier for him to see first team minutes for a while.
MLS has already started becoming the talent supplier for a lot of CONCACAF. It should only become more common. Every fringe USMNT dual nat player has to ask if they want to be on an international team or to actually play international games. MLS is where the most USMNT past and future players are. I keep an eye on NYCFC for just that reason, same with RBNY, Seattle, Philly etc.
The best thing that could happen for Campbell and his development is a loan similar to the one that took Paxten Aaronson to Utrecht.
Well, it has 10 more teams than most leagues. Attendance would have to be pretty bad for it not to have more attendance than most leagues.
Attendance has been astounding. Our NE Revs are a really shit team in a terrible stadium and they average 29,262. That's shocking and impressive
The other NY team is starting 5 players born in New York / New Jersey in MLS Cup For the first time in MLS Cup history, five different players born in New York or New Jersey will start an @MLS Cup final for a single club. https://t.co/4YrWBIrZRO pic.twitter.com/eaRSZQBmEP— MLS Communications (@MLS_PR) December 7, 2024
I think Seattle, a team that you don't associate with HGPs can field an entire outfield with West Coast credentials, including the 49th and 50th states. 2024 appearances in brackets. The two Roldans (70) - California educated at UW Jordan Morris HGP (37) - Washington Obed Vargas HGP (33) - Alaska (chose Mexico) Reed Baker-Whiting HGP (25) - Washington Jackson Regan (37) - Washington Josh Atencio HGP (33) - Washington Paul Rothrock (27) - Washington Danny Leyva (14) - Nevada Cody Baker (13) - Washington Andrew Thomas (7) is Russian but has an American father and played cricket for England U17. That's a hell of a resume. Stefan Frei played college soccer in California and should have got a US cap a few years ago.
Ajax would be another good one where he could begin by competing for the role of creative offensive spark off the bench and then grow his role from there.
Put me down as somebody who suspects that LDLT may make the move to MLS in 2025 for the exact reasons that people are saying here. I think we'll see some of our other European stalwarts make the move too, but only after the 2026 World Cup. The one obvious player that people would mention for a quicker move would be Turner, but I continue to expect him to linger in Europe due to salary reasons together with the fact that his career breakout was in his late 20s.
Caleb Wiley 🚨🎙️ Liam Rosenior on Caleb Wiley’s recent injury:"The news is not good because Caleb has to have surgery. I just got around to watching Tyler Adams destroy Tottenham’s hopes and dreams. This guy is a special, special player. He’s the only other player we have in the pool who is at Pulisic’s level. Guys can barely receive the ball before he takes it clean off of them. It’s absurd. He’s everywhere. Postecoglu is probably having nightmares where Adams shows up and takes his bite of steak just before he puts it in his mouth. Tyler takes his seat before he can sit down. Tyler opens the door for his wife before he can get to it. Andre goes to get in his car and Tyler speeds off in it.
Tyler in this game is really good. One of the previous game he was kind of not really sync with himself. Like the Copa America game vs. Panama, it was his fault to let Panama scored the first goal. Kind of same feeling as the game I mentioned not good in EPL.
Aaaand he's not in the 18 today. Apparently, "He finished the other day with cramps everywhere." So I guess that's good news?
Well, I suppose if you're going to have such a serious injury, getting it in the run up to winter break when they're not even playing for nearly a month is helpful. Instead of missing 2.5 months worth of games it will be 1-1.5 or so.
Unfortunately dude has gotten seriously hurt in: 18-'19 '19-'20 '20-'21 '23 '23-'24 '24 We all love him but his only period of sustained health was when he was riding the bench in Germany for RBL after they decided to make him a part timer in '21. Hopefully he can stay healthy because if he can's, the versatility of our CM options will be immense, and it will do wonders for cleaning up what has been a total --- defense ever since he got hurt in late winter '22-'23.
Iraola said that they kept him out because he's already played two 90s this week and they don't want to risk it. And that he had cramps everywhere the other day. Sounds flipping excellent as far as Tyler Adams news has gone for the last several years!
Pulisic should have recovered harder and slid in from the backside on that goal playing down a man. That would have filled the hole in the structure.
They look like they’re headed back down but they have had better results since GLB came back. Seems like they need another piece or two.
It is extremely unlikely that any of those players will be on the USMNT WC2026 roster. You are correct that MLS is a great destination for tier 3 or 4 CONCACAF players from smaller nations but until MLS becomes a tier 1 league it should not be a destination for prime age USMNT players. In 2006 Bruce Arena wrote a piece for the WSJ or NYTimes in which he essentially said that the US would not be able to seriously compete for a WC title until our players are playing in the top leagues in Europe. That point is still true today.
